Just curious. When did your LOs switch from crib to bed? I know some moms who have kids Jack's age (18 mos) that are putting them in beds already. I can't imagine putting Jack in a big boy bed yet. But I wonder if he'd do fine. And I wonder when we should.
I guess I was fairly early in putting mine into the twin bed. They were both right around 17 months or so.
I never had a problem with the switch though. They both adjusted to it really quickly - I think it was because the rails still made them feel secure.
The only drawback to having them in a big bed is that they can get down any time they want to. It made quiet time a little harder in our house for a while - and still does sometimes!

I had a convertable crib, so both mine had their crib convert to a daybed in the 2's. Then I moved my first born completely out at 3 because baby #2 was coming. I did the same thing with baby number 2.
Our LO would NOT, I repeat NOT, sleep in his crib. No ifs, no ands, no buts. So we co-slept with him. That worked great until he got so big so a couple of months ago we got a toddler bed and he sleeps in it just fine. I worried how it would work at first but he did great. He can get in and out of it by himself but we don't have any issues with that. He does occasionally get up really early in the morning if he's cold and will come pat on me or dh wanting to get warmed up, other than that he sleeps just fine. He's never just gotten up and rambled around.
Our first two LO's went into big boy beds when they turned 2 and I plan on putting our third LO in a big girl bed at the same age. I remember when we put our first LO into a big bed he rolled off between the rails and the head board and made his way up under the bed. When I went in during the night to check on him I didn't see him in bed, but you could see his little feet sticking out from under the bed!
With my #1 I put him in a toddler bed when he was about 18 months because he would jump out of his crib and get up on his own anyways. So I put him in a toddler bed for safety reasons.
With my #2 I am thinking about doing it soon and he turns a year this Friday. He is moving up to the next room in day care and they sleep on cots so if he can accomplish it there then he can do it at home too. I am just going to wait until they train him well so it wont be so hard for me Just trying to get my monies worth!

My youngest stayed in his crib until he was about 2.5 - he could climb anything by then, but never even tried to get out of it because he loved it. And he still remembers it fondly, actually (and occassionally asks if he can have it back!!). His older brother NEVER liked his crib, though, and I don't think he ever slept in it much.

I moved #1 out at 18 months because #2 was on the way and I didn't want him to be mad that the baby got his crib. #2 moved out about 15 months because #3 was on the way he was 17 months when she was born. He would not stay in the toddler bed for naps so naps and sleeping late were gone. Now he rests on the couch with his big brother. #3 can stay in her crib for as long as she wants as far as I am concerned, because I can't have her give up her naps. I just pray she doesn't try to climb out.
