OK, I admit, my LO has been sleeping with me for the past few months. He began as an excellent sleeper: 12-13 hrs at just a few months. Then, he started waking up and crying. I would just put him in bed with me for the rest of the night. Then, he started acting TERRIFIED of getting in his bed at all. I had planned on doing CIO eventually, but just hadn't worked up the courage.
Saturday, I decided to work on getting him back in his bed. I thought I would put him in it to play while I was standing in the room. Didn't work. Eventually, I just took off the side and replaced it with a flip-down rail. I didn't have high hopes, but low and behold, he LOVED it. He could get up and down by himself and had a great time playing on it all day. That night, I rocked him and put him in it after he was asleep. (7:30). He woke at 7:45 the next morning! I went in his room and he was just sitting there with a huge smile on his face. Last night, I put him in bed, with the rail down, sat beside the bed and read his books to him. He settled into his pillow and VOILA--asleep!!! I put the rail up and left. I got up this morning and went in to check on him and adjust his covers at 6:30. He grunted--like, leave me alone--so I left and he stayed in bed! It gets better... I was making lunch just a earlier today and realized how quiet it was. I went into his room. He had turned on his CD player (Raffi) and was lying in bed with his thumb in his mouth. I patted him a few times and he was asleep. I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me!!!! This is worth bragging about! |

Wow that's pretty awesome. Good for you for figuring out exactly what he needed. Sounds like he's all snug and comfy in his bed now. I love success stories!
