Lots of interesting information about sleep apnea and kids in this article. Experts are saying it can play a role in childhood obesity and it also may be mistaken for ADHD since kids who are sleep deprived can get hyper.

My neice snores like mad. When she sleeps over, I don't get any rest because she wants to sleep with me but she keeps me awake all night. She is, honestly, the loudest snorer I have ever heard and has snored her entire life. I have always suspected that this cannot be good for her, but, my brother chooses not to have her checked out. Anyone who hears her, would know right off that she needs surgery. I guess my brother is hoping that she will outgrow it. It is a hard decision to make your child suffer going through a surgical procedure. I think it is necessary, but what can I do?

She doesn't fit the profile... she is teeny-tiny, but is quite active. She is very smart, but recently has come home with "yellow light" warnings. She is in 1st grade. It probably wasn't a problem in K since she was able to do her work quickly. Now, that she needs to concentrate, it is harder for her.
