How old were your kiddos when you let them start watching dvds/tv???
|

|
I thought the same thing. Why in the world would they rank movies in the birth-2 years category? Don't the experts recommended no tv until at least past age 2, if not even later?

My first child starting watching Baby Einstein at 6 weeks and I totally regret it! He LOVES to watch TV and I have to pull him away and turn it off. The other two didn't watch Baby Einstein or anything else that early and they could really care less to watch TV. My middle child only wants to watch Curious George while he eats breakfast, then he is off to play.

I don't recommend Baby Einstein to new moms at all anymore.

Sorry I posted twice something messed up and I thought it didn't show up so I wrote it again.

That's good to know about your experience with Baby Einstein. I received some of those dvds at showers, but haven't tried them yet. Yes, the most recent research on the topic has supported limiting television in children under 2 years of age. However, I completely understand the need for mommy breaks!

I do miss the fact that I don't get mommy breaks with the little two. Maybe as they get a little older, they are 2 1/2 and 15 months they will enjoy sitting down for a 15-30 minute show. They just can't be still.

Jack's mommy |
I think BE is fine in moderation. When we traveled north 1,100 miles and Jack needed to be entertained in the car I popped a BE in.
Also, when I need to cook dinner or clean my house, a 30 minute Blue's Clues show is my best friend. I don't think it's bad to let Jack watch a show now and again. But I would never plop him in front of the TV all day. And once he gets old enough to want to watch TV I will limit it. |
