Jack's mommy |
So over the weekend my cousin brought the site www.kneebouncers.com to my attention. Your baby sits on your lap and touches your keyboard to make balloons pop, fish swim and music play.
I have mixed feelings about this. I worry that my son will think my computer is a toy for him to bang on. I spend the day keeping him away from the computer and I worry if we do this too often it will send mixed messages. However, the site is pretty cute and he did have fun with it. Check it out! ![]() |

I have visited many websites that are designed for young children and have not been happy with many.
Here's one that is absolutely my favorite! My son (17 mos) LOVES it. Much of it is too advanced for his age... we mostly listen to the songs of BOOWA & KWALA You can listen in English or French. There is a free version and a premium version. In the Premium version, it is full screen so that there are no ads that little one can click on. Here is the link: Up To Ten |

Some more social sites for little kids (courtesy of Parents Magazine):
Kidzui - new site for kids ages 3-13 that combines Web browsing, parental-control features and a virtual community. The content changes as your kids grow. Zookazoo - virtual world for kids age 6 to 12. Graphics and animation and sound mixing are featured here and also cyber-bullying protection. Franktown Rocks! - for 6-12 year olds, this is all about music where kids can jam, play instrument-based games and watch instructional videos. Woogi World - as your elementary-school-age child plays games that teach him about being a good world and Internet citizen, he earns privileges such as chatting ![]() |

Spit up, the new fashion statement. |
I'm with ya Kristi, I have the same mixed feelings about her banging on my computer and thinking it is a toy. We have a laptop so she doesn't and won't have access to it unless I want her to which does make it easier. I do want to check out those sites though, she shows much interest in my computer now and I would like to see what she thinks of something she can actually interact with. I guess if she gets too rough she will be "grounded" from the computer.
Another idea I had was to get an old(er) keyboard and teach your child that that is his/her "computer" but not to touch, bang, or mess with any others except his/hers. I don't know how that would work, what do you think mom's with older ones? |

Ashley_ there is this thing at walmart that my daughter got for her 1st birthday, and its like her "own" keyboard. It comes with a CD that u download on ur computer and u put "her" keyboard over yours and she can play! and a good thing is it has diff. stages so little ones can play to. I cant remember the name.

I went to the sites and they are indeed fun, she was somewhat reluctant to bang on the keys. I am worried that she may spit up on my laptop, since she has reflux. Maybe I need to invest in a keyboard or a desktop computer. As I am typing this she has managed to make this box disappear and gone back about 3 pages twice now. Yay! I created a monster.

I found the instructions book and on it says ... Fisher-price computer learning system, Laugh, smile and learn. I hope that helps...
I also have a laptop, but i also have an extra keyboard and thats what we use. I am not sure if it would work on a lap i have never tried. It dosent look like it would but maybe! Hope this helped you out. |

The site was nice and looks good for children. I think it's good for your son to be more interactive with computer and it's good for him to learn to use computer at his young age. |
