We're not doing it any time soon, but Boston is definitely on the list of places we're taking our tot before he grows up.
I love all the history stuff and am looking forward to the educational and sight-seeing possibilities. But for my husband it will be nothing less than a pilgrimage and an absolute must-do rite of passage for his son - because he (my husband) has been the biggest Red Sox fan in Alabama since he was about eight years old, and he wants to pass that down.

By the way, do you miss the New England area? And how long have you been away from there?
Maybe we can ask you for some tips in a few years, when we're ready to go...

I do miss it. I lived in Boston for 8 years, went to school there, met my husband there, started my career there. It's a very special place to me. Right before we moved south in Jan. '06, we were living right in the North End, which was so wonderful. It's like Little Italy in NYC. The food was incredible. And it was so cool to be able to walk everywhere. My job was a few blocks away and so was Quincy Market (a dangerous place to go on your lunch hour!). We ordered our groceries online. We'd park our cars and not drive them for weeks!

My DH's family is all there so I get to go back every year. We were there over Xmas and we'll be back in June. Yay!

And I'd be happy to give you tips!
Oh, and my husband is also a HUGE Red Sox fan and therefore so is Jack. He even painted the Green Monster on Jack's nursery wall. I have great memories at Fenway Park. We used to go a lot.

I think my hubby works with yours. I'll have to let him know they've got something (the Red Sox) in common!
And I would love to live in a place where I never have to drive a car. I wish we didn't have to even have one!
As things are now, we regularly park our car in downtown Tuscaloosa so we can walk to the stores and the quad and the restaurants and the river and the park (the one with the fountain). So I just pretend that I live in a big city...
