Who in their right mind would lend out their baby for a reality TV show like this?

I saw the clip and can't believe any of what I saw was good for anyone! Not the baby, not the mother and not the obviously "not ready to be parents" couple. What is the point?

Ok - I watched it tonight. I made fun of it at first - but the more I watched it - the more I think it is actually a solid plan. Not only do the parents of the babies observe from a house next door, but each teenage couple has a professional nanny assigned to them. The parents can stop in the house at any time if they feel like the babies are being mistreated or are not being properly taken care of.
The teenagers are also given a book of rules for their baby. Everything from food preferences to favorite activities.
I was actually really surprised at some of the teenage couples. A lot of the guys were a lot more involved than I thought they woulld be, and a lot of the girls had no business even thinking about having children anytime soon.
I am actually looking forward to next week to see how some of them do. The interesting thing is that they only have one age group for three days at a time. They go from babies to toddlers to school age to teens to elderly. It should be interesting!

I haven't watched this yet, so I can't say if I think it would be a good idea or not. My first thought, was no way! But, the way GG describes it, it may be a good idea.

When does this come on?

Hey, maybe if teenage girls had to borrow a colicky newborn for a couple of nights it would put an end to the "pregnancy pacts" mentioned in another post!

SarahMay - that's exactly what I think the aim of the show is. A couple of the girls - who are only 16 and 17 I believe - were talking about how they wanted to be young mothers and how they felt they were ready for kids. One of the young men mentioned that his reason for coming on the show was to prove to his girlfriend that there is no way they are ready to have kids, and was hoping that this would teach her a lesson in responsibility.

You may be able to go online and watch the episode - I'm not sure though - I haven't checked.

I haven't seen this show nor do I plan to. I'm so sick of reality tv. All the networks are running nothing but reality tv shows! I don't watch a lot of television, but I have had the desire to lately. When I turn it on I see nothing but random people making fools of themselves with no apparent point.

What happened to well written comedies and/or dramas? I hate to be overly dramatic but I think these shows are dumbing down its audience. There is actually a new show about eating and then spinning or something similar and the last person who vomits wins...I mean really.

Sorry for the rant. I tend to have those.

Maigen, I hear ya. All this reality TV is getting old for me too.
I actually caught the tail end of Baby Borrowers last night. It was the final episode where they take care of the elderly. Then the show gave updates about the couples today.
EVERY COUPLE has since broken up!
And before the show they apparently were ready to become parents together.

I love realty TV.

Sorry guys, but this show did not interest me. I am it is surely a good realty check for kids who want to have kids. Many of them ususally have no idea how hard it is on life and relationships and their psyches (sp?)

This show is problably good to watch if you have young adults and teens around the house.

I watched a few episodes and it was kind of interesting to watch just to see how the teens reacted I guess. I don't understand how a parent can just give up their kid like that to a stranger for 3 days (especially a baby)! I know they are monitoring what's going on but I would never be able to do that. I think it was a good idea for the teens to learn first hand what they would be dealing with so maybe they could get a reality check, but it is still beyond me how someone can give their child away like that for 3 days.

Ugh, I HATE reality TV!! And I doubt that a lot of it is even "real" anyway. Creative editing...

That said, I have been catching reruns of Baby
Borrowers on WE (there isn't much else on TV now). The last episode I saw one of the couples broke up and another was on the verge of breakup. I'm glad they did an update, because I was curious to see if any of them would stay together long term. But you spoiled it for me Kristi... they haven't played that rerun on We yet. Smiler

I can't believe the language theses teenagers are using. One girl was even swearing during a phone conversation to her mom. And did you see the episode where Sasha (I think that's her name) totally lost it after being criticized by the toddler's mom. I think the parents of the teenagers need to give them a serious lesson in how to respect others, especially adults.

I think the children in the experiment were safe, since there was a nanny and the were monitored the whole time. But, I don't think I could stand to be away from Will for 3 whole days.
