Ok - was it me - or was Andrew Lloyd Webber trying to hit on David Cook?
Although I did love the fact that he picked a softer song and it really showed his vocal talent. Music of the Night is a tough song to sing and I think he did it beautifully. Syesha was DEFINITELY in her element. She would have a great Broadway career and I have no doubt that when she leaves Idol she'll be on stage somewhere. David A. - bless his little heart. I know he's young and innocent, but I'm almost tired of his syrupy sweet "awww, shucks" quality. (I know that's bad - sorry) Carly did a really good job with her song choice. Jesus Christ Superstar suited her much better. I'm beginning to like her more and more. And she definitely showed personality with the t-shirt thing. Jason Castro - what can I say? I'm not sure there are too many more songs that you can get away with whispering through. And then there is Brooke. Bless her heart. It has to be so nerve wracking to get up there and sing live. My one question is this - who doesn't know the story behind Evita and Eva Peron? I was shocked. IMO this is the end of the road for either Brooke or Jason. But who knows.... |

PLEASE send Brooke home. OMG ... I am so over her. I liked her in the beginning, but now she annoys me more than David A. You just can't break down and cry over ever little thing. It's obnoxious.
And, if she isn't singing Carly Simon, she just doesn't sound that good to me. I love David Cook - thought he did GREAT. I liked seeing this side of him, though I do like the rocker better. I thought Carly and David A were really good too - David A annoys me personality wise though. I have always liked Jason but this wasn't his night - and GG - you're right, you can only whisper out of one side of your mouth so much. I didn't see Sayesha b/c we had cable trouble, but I'll go watch it on youtube if you guys say she was that great. I'm itching for a David/David or David/Carly showdown! |

I missed the whole show - stuck at baseball practice with my son, and since I don't have a DVR...
I did watch the two Davids and Carly and Syesha on youtube this morning, but it's not the same. All 4 of them seemed very good, and maybe I can catch Brooke's troubled performance and Jason's not-so-great one before tonight's elimination. |

I watched it last night!
Brooke seems very sweet, but I'm a bit over all the emotion (even though I just started watching!). David C is so talented--he has the lead singer of a pop-rock band look going for him. I think David A would have a huge following with pre-teens and teens, but I agree with whoever said he's too syrupy. |

ARGHHHHHHHH!! I cannot believe it! America has apparently lost their minds! I cannot believe that Brooke skated through another week. The sad thing is that I would say that I am going to boycott the show...but it's almost like a train wreck now....you don't want to look....but you just can't turn away either. Besides, next week is Neil Diamond week and I'm just praying that someone attempts "Play Me" and I'm thinking it will be Jason.

First time I ever voted and the two I voted for were in the bottom 2! Sorry, I must have jinxed them.

I was shocked by the bottom too also - and I think both Syesha and Carly were as well. I agree with Kristi that Carly wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway - she just wasn't as popular with the judges as some of the others (the two Davids, for a start).
Syesha better work on getting her a fan base if she wants to stick around any longer! |

Yeah, Carly wouldn't have lasted much longer. Neither will Syesha, unfortunately. Last week I chose The Davids and Jason as my top 3 finalists. Being an adult, I think it is a shame that he has beaten out so many talented singers. I'd have to say, though, if I were 12-14 yrs old, I would probably think Jason was fabulous, too. It IS a popularity contest.
This week, I noticed that for the first time, David C ranked above David A in the standings at Dialidol.com. |

How many of us vote other than FunnyMummy?
That's the problem. The vast majority of voteres are teenagers and younger. They have the time and energy to hit redial hundreds of times (Heck, I used to do it for hours and hours on end trying to win NKOTB tickets and such as a kid). In that age group, it's all a popularity contest. The singing is important, but not as important as "OMGheisohotlookathowbluehiseyesare". So. I complain every week too about good people going home and crappy people staying (ahem, BROOKE), but I don't do anything about it. I need to start voting. |

You're not voting? The last couple of weeks I have had my cell in one hand and the home phone in the other.

It just irritates me that its not based on talent and it's based on popularity. I don't think I'll be watching next season. Carly had the best voice hands down but since a bunch of teenage girls are the ones voting, the boys will keep staying in. It's ridiculous!
