It was time for Amanda to go. I think she had already done everything she was ever going to do.

I just wonder how long Christy Lee Cook will hang on in the bottom two every show. She might make it again next week. Ramielle could definitely come to her rescue. I think Christy has a great voice as well as looks but she needs some acting/performing lessons--and a better stylist. She could be a real hit if she ever got it together.

So I missed the first three, but my general impressions from tonight are:
David Cook was the best tonight the Australian guy was very good but there was nothing original about his performance. I thought Carly did a great job - not sure why the judges panned her like they did. I agree with the judges - Brooke was great in the beginning and the band coming in ruined the whole thing, but overall she was good. I didn't get David Archuleta's bubble-gummy performance - he should have chosen something recognizable. It's time for Christy Lee Cook to go!!! In the recap, Ramiele didn't sound so great, but from those who saw the real performance (I've recently learned that the "recap" is filmed during the rehearsals), how was it? To me, she and Christy are are the weakest at this point. |

Really? I didn't know the recap is performed during the rehearsals. Huh.
David Cook is the best!! I loved that performance! And what the heck was the name of that song David Archuletta sang? I've been trying to tell DH (he worked late) what it is and just can't even come up with a melody. ![]() |

WHAT was David Archuletta singing?? OMG. I think Simon was right that there is no way he could have picked it himself. I'm hearing rumors (via my bible - US Weekly LOL) that his dad is a real jerk, total stage dad, and I wonder if he picked it for him.
Anyway, I thought David Cook was AWESOME. I love him. I also really like Michael Johns - I thought he had a GREAT night last night. I thought Syesha did really really well too. Ramiele is going to go soon I think. I used to really like her, but she is getting some BAD song and style advice I think. I really don't believe they pick all this themselves - I truly believe the producers, etc guide this. And I think they steer the "favorites" towards the good songs. Just my conspiracy theorist opinion. Christy Cook has to go eventually. She is just NOT good in my opinion. That said, she was smart last night. You sing that song in the times we live in .... people are going to vote. She saved herself for another week I think. |

Ok, suprises of the night... Syesha and David Archuletta. Syesha=amazing (who would have known she could do it)...David A.=not so good. I normally love David A., but his song was terrible last night.
Predictions for bottom three-Brooke (hate to say so, b/c I love her), Ramielle (she really need to stop letting the stylists dress her), and Jason (he is getting just as old and tiring as Amanda did, and I don't like his personality either). Who do you guys think will be in the bottom three? I loved David Cook, Aussie guy, Syesha, and Christy Cook (who has finally redemmed herself and shown she can sing). Prediction on who will leave? Ramielle But that's just my opinion. |

OK. I'm caught up on AI, thanks to YouTube. That David Cook is getting better and better. I'm even warming up to his hair. (It used to bug me. LOL)
I didn't like Archuletta, either. I think Simon said it best. He does give off a "theme park" vibe. Going home? Ramielle would be my guess. It's tough to say. |

Here's a link to a story at TMZ about the footage used at the end. It makes sense, really - they don't have time to assemble that at the last minute.
http://www.tmz.com/2008/03/19/idol-voters-what-you-see-not-what-you-get/ FunnyMummy, I'm not a fan of David Cook's hair either! I don't know what it is, but... I had the opposite reaction to Christy lee Cook's song choice than everyone else apparently did - I thought it was a cheesy choice and illustrated a desperate attempt to save herself by means other than her voice (i.e. tugging on people's patriotic heartstrings). That song has been woefully overused and overplayed in recent years. i didn't think her singing was any better than it ever has been, although maybe people will be influenced by the message fo the song more than the performance. I thought Archuletta's voice sounded good, as usual, but the song was awful. Moozle, I've read about his father also. It would be sad if he messed it all up for him...but he is so young anyway. |

Syesha in the bottom 3! Chikezie's going home? Now, I never expected either to walk away as the winner. I hope Syesha makes it to top 5, at least. Chikezie. I love him. Not the best singer, but he's seems so likeable. I had hoped that he would hang around a few more weeks. I didn't expect this now. What' up with the voters? I hope this doesn't come across as a racist comment, but I have wondered this and I wanted to know if anyone else shares my thoughts on it: These two have been in the bottom 3 before, even when I have thought that they have done ok--or at least better than some of the others. Do you think that it has anything to do with their singing style is not typical of popular African American/soul music? Historically, African Americans have done well on AI, but they all had a strong soul sound.
And Kristy didn't get in the bottom three--isn't that a first for her? |

I agree with you FunnyMummy...I was shocked to see Chickezie and Syesha in the bottom three. Ramielle has deserved to be there several times, but hasn't gotten voted in..Don't know why? I am wondering what is up with the voters. Chickezie did not deserve to go home yet. There are several others that he was much better than that needed to go first. He should have been in at least the top 6.
I think that alot of the voters are young teenage girls, so the fact that they are not appealing to the African American voters by singing soulful songs may be hurting them. But who am I to guess why? I still can't believe Syesha??? She did soooo good. |

I liked Chikeze and definitely don't think he was the weakest one. But at the same time, he wasn't the strongest either. Christy Lee Cook's I-Love-America-so America-Should-Love-Me-Back ploy obviously worked, unfortunately. Can y'all tell I'm ready for her to go?
