I am still vested and am watching too - don't get me wrong - I want Cook all the way. Oddly, our school is auctioning off Idol Tour Tickets for our upcoming Relay for Life event. Highest bid gets 'em!

Well...we all predicted correctly. The Davids it is!

I think there is a silver lining. David A will fare much better with the sappy songs for the finaly than David C. I hope it works out that way. I want David C. to be able to put out an album of his own, not an AI album.

Does it bug you guys that Randy keeps telling David A he can sing anything even the phone book? I haven't been very impressed with his singing recently (he has a great voice, is just a bit unbelievable). I just feel like he is still so young, and the whole innocent thing is wearing on me. No 17 year old is that innocent. At least I wasn't. LOL!

I am surprised at how many people hate David A. I listened to my mother go on and on yesterday about how much she dislikes him. My mother! LOL. She used to be his fan. Not any more.
I mean, he's annoying and all, but....he's just a kid. And a sweet kid. My DH thinks the sweetness is all an act. But I don't.
I still want David C. to win! But I pray he won't have to put out a crappy poppy AI album....OK, maybe I want David A. to win! LOL

Oh...and I had to laugh last night because Syesha is from where we used to live in Florida (Tampa area). And she was interviewed by her local news there in the montage last night about going home for the day.
Well, we always used to make fun of the entertainment guy on the news who LIVED for AI and did bad interviews. He is so corny. It became a joke in our household. Well, guess who was on the show last night in the montage? Corny entertainment guy in Tampa! I was laughing so hard. I had to call DH (he worked late) to tell him. And I'm bummed he missed it.
It must have made that guys LIFE to be on the show he worships. LOL

OH, one more thing.
WTH was up with Fantasia last night? Did she drink Jolt before taking the stage?

AI is certainly getting odder every show. Ryan Seacrest keeps messing up, David A. is a few bricks shy of a load, David C. (even though I really like him) looks like he could care less if he's there or not sometimes, and Paula is in left field somewhere (what the heck am I talking about, she's always out there). I wonder if they are gearing up for some kind of shocker for the next show.

AI does keep getting stranger. I must admit I record the results show and then just fast-forward to the end. I have no desire to spend 20 minutes rehashing what just happened the night before. They try to fill and hour show with 10 minutes of good stuff and 50 minutes of crap. And all the hoop-la is a bit too much for me. It seems to be more about who is cuter and more popular now than the actual singing.

And Fantasia was crazy on stage. Did you see the look Simon and Randy had as she was finishing? I laughed so hard. They looked shocked and in aw at the same time. You couldn't even understand her she was singing so fast.

I fell asleep. Didn't see a bit of the show. Shame on me.

It's finally here! The last performance! We will finally see the next AI crowned.

So, I watched the finale last night, in spite of my recently developed apathy towards Idol, and I wasn't blown away by anything, but they were both very good of course. Here is my predicition: David Archuleta will win hands down, and that will be the better outcome. He is the true pop idol type and will be a great american idol. Then David C. can go on and do what he does and not be tied to the AI contract and all that (think Daughtry). That's what I think, for what it's worth.

David A. was good last night but I still enjoyed David C.'s performances better. It's just more my type of music.

Did anyone else catch Randy's reference to the wrong year? He said this is a hot 2007 competition?! And no one corrected him. Also, my DH and I rolled our eyes when he kept saying "you can sing the phonebook." He says that so much. Ugh. And Paula with her dumb cliches.
Oh man.
Every year we say we're done with AI because it's too cheesy.
But every year we get sucked in again! LOL
We've never missed a season!

Ok - the whole boxing match opening was just a little too much for me...lol.

David Cook was good as always - but it was almost as though he wasn't REALLY trying his hardest. Like maybe he was trying to let David A. win. Who knows. He just wasn't playing his "A Game" last night. He may have just been really nervous - but I don't know.

David A. did a good job. He's just not my cup of tea. Bless his little heart though - almost crying at the end.

I'm a little torn on this - it could go either way. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to watch the finale and Top Chef at the same time tonight!!

I'm echoing what most of you already said.

I think it was a really good showdown, but I think David A will win. Which is fine - he has a great voice even if I can't stand to actually look at him. LOL.

I think David C will do much better without the Idol contract, and I personally think that's why Simon was steering the voters towards David A. He is more of what they are looking for for the album they plan to produce.

Either way - both boys will be signed with labels by this time tomorrow and will do just fine. I see David C having a lot more longevity in the industry though. But maybe that's just b/c he sings the music I like.

GG - first, I totally agree about the boxing stuff. OMG - SOOOO overboard and corny!!!! Combined with all of Paula's stupid puns using song lyrics I was hiding my head for half the show.

Second, get a DVR woman! So you can watch both!

What did you guys think of the rest of the show? All the guests?
I loved the Jack Black/Robert Downey Jr./Ben Stiller skit. I love all those guys. And Carrie Underwood was great and looked amazing.
George Michael...can you say awkward? And, if he's going on tour for the first time in 17 years do you think he could have sung a NEW song? Is he touring on all old songs? And how about a more upbeat song too?
Um...who else... oh, I liked the David Cook/ZZ Top performance.

All I can say about David C is - what a nice nice cool cool guy. He handled everything so humbly and truly grateful! Love him!
