As I've posted before, I'm addicted to award shows. I'm shameless. I'll watch anything where they give an award. So I'll be watching the Grammys tonight. How about you? Or, if you are reading this tomorrow, what did you think about the show/winners?
Who else is tired of hearing about Amy Winehouse? It'll be cool to see Alicia Keys and Kid Rock perform. They're always good.
Sometimes I wonder if Jack will look at the music I like today as "old fogie" music the way I used to think of the music my parents used to listen to. LOL. Although I can't imagine Kid Rock being old fogie music! Maybe my Air Supply album would qualify...LOL.
I'll be watching for sure! And I'm actually looking forward to seeing Amy Winehouse perform (remotely live from London, on a quick leave from rehab, presumably).
OK, so Amy Winehouse definitely can sing. She gave a great performance last night!
I thought the awards were elegant and I liked all the old school performers like Tina and Frank Sinatra with Alicia Keys (although that was a bit creepy). Speaking of Alicia Keys, her song with John Mayer was awesome. I thought Carrie Underwood did a good job too.
I enjoyed seeing Winehouse too, although she did look a bit frail. I agree that The Alicia Keys performance with John Mayer appearing at the end was great - she really knows how to build up some intensity while performing! Tina Turner did look great, and I was impressed that Aretha Franklin could still belt it out like that at 65! But the Fogerty/Little Richard/Jerry Lee Lewis thing was weird to me - Little Richard is so plastic looking, and I didn't know that Jerry Lee Lewis was still alive! I agree with Kristi, overall good show and very entertaining.
I have an odd story about Little Richard. I was at a DNC event in Boston and he was performing. Well, people were snapping his photo (because, duh, he's a famous guy performing on stage) and he got MAD. Really mad. He started demanding that everyone stop taking his picture. I think he was babbling about how everyone should pay him for his picture. I think he's losing his marbles.
I enjoyed the show, too, though I was in and out. I thought Tina Turner was great. I also thought the Rhapsody in Blue performace was terrific. I think Amy W. has a great voice and is a real performer, but I was glad Herbie Hancock won album of the year. It was a nice change from the norm....like when Bob Dylan won a few years back.
