I hate to report this news...during his bath last night that was going ok (no screaming at least), Ronald slipped and hit his head on the faucet. Nothing tragic, just a good bump on the head with me sitting a foot from him (the mommy guilt from that one belongs on another thread entirely), so the screaming started. And he wasn't even wet yet. On a side note, my DH was standing in the doorway, and while smiling at me said I had the mommy thing down; the way I dropped the washcloth and swooped him into my arms within a second of bumping his head was truly impressive. Thanks to DH for that one. Anyway, after I checked him over to be sure no permanent damage was done, we had the issue of finishing his bath. It had been 4 days since his last, and he really needed one as you can imagine. It was painful. I had to hold his arm to keep him off the side of the tub so I could wash and rinse his hair. I made suprisingly quick work of it, and in less than 3 minutes we were done. A little bruised and with some hearing damage from the screams, but all-in-all we came out ok. Whew!!! I hope we don't have to relive that scenario anytime soon.

Jack's mommy |
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear he bumped his head. Poor little guy. But these things happen. We can't blame ourselves. But we do.
And, yes, kudos to DH for his comments. Sometimes when the mommy guilt sets in a comment like that can really help. I really hope bathtime improves for you guys soon. I hope it's just a phase. ![]() |
