So Jack is 15 months old and he has not started saying "no" yet. Don't get me wrong. I am glad. Some of my mom friends who have kids this age are telling me they are starting to hear it. If they try to get their child to eat or take a bath or whatever, they are hearing "NO!" I'm wondering when this is going to start.

When did your LO start telling you "NO!" ??

Around 20 months is when I first heard it. Fortunately, it's not too often... yet. It usually is in response to not wanting to eat something.

Amelia hasn't started actually saying NO yet, but she shakes her head no when she doesn't want to do something.

Last night I tried to read to her and she shook her head and went to stand by her crib. LOL. guess she was ready for bed.

I actually like the head shaking b/c it lets me know when she doesn't want something, but I don't have to hear the annoying screams of no just yet.

Her favorite word of the moment is MINE, screamed, several times a day.

Mine started saying "no" before he turned two, but it didn't become a regular thing until a couple of months ago (soon after he turned three). I think he's starting his "terrible twos" about a year late!!

Mine has said no once that I can recall, but he kind of repeats the sounds we make right now, so I don't think it was really no as much as copying what we had said. I hope it is not something he ever picks up. I try to tell him what and why he can't do something instead of saying "no" all of the time. But sometimes that is not possible. Like when he is climbing on something and I know he will fall and break his neck, so I yell out "noooo"!!!!. Oh well, I try not to!
