Looking to pick up some TTC books?
Here's some ideas: http://www.gettingpregnant.com/getting-pregnant-books.html Anyone read any of these? Can you provide a review? Good? Bad? Helpful? ![]() |

I haven't read any of those books but I do have a recommendation: Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. Click here for Amazon
It has helped me avoid pregnancy, get pregnant, and understand how the female body works and why. I wish I had read this book years ago. I've recommended it to everyone I know that is thinking about TTC and I will make sure that my daughter will read it when she hits puberty. |

Which is the book that tells you how to possibly influence the gender of your baby? I was talking about this with a friend the other day and we couldn't think of the name of it.

Sarah- Here is a brief description. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shettles_Method
I have no idea if it really works or not from personal experience but I have heard success stories from some couples. |

I tried some of the basic stuff from Shettles because we wanted girls .... and we did wind up with two girls. Sooo ... some believe in it and some don't, but it really seemed to work for us.
The main theory is that male sperm (or y chromosome carrying sperm or whatever you want to call them) swim faster than female sperm (again, you know what I mean - x chromosone carrying sperm), but die faster. The girl making sperm swim much slower, but live several days longer. So, if you want to try for a girl, you try to have sex only up until a few days prior to ovulation. That way the boy sperm have already gotten there and died off before the egg is released and ready to be fertilized, and more of the slower, girl sperm make it there in time. That is one baby part of it, and with me using NONE of the correct terminology. LOL. But, it worked for us. Anabelle was conceived 3 days before ovulation, and Amelia was actually more like 4 days prior. |

Moozle, your theory and plan worked the same for us too each time. So, I can get on board with that being a viable strategy, but then again there is a 50/50 chance everytime anyway, so it's hard to know.

Welp, I bought Taking Charge of Your Fertility, since you all highly recommended it. And it is a great book. I've learned a lot this weekend. I feel like I should have read this book years ago.
