Well Jack has had 6 teeth for a long time now and he's never gone through what he's going through now. He is soooo miserable. Earlier in the week he got his first fever and it lasted for a few days. Now he's waking up in the night screaming. Poor thing. I look in his mouth and I can't tell where it's coming in. But he's drooling so much and chomping down on everything. So it's got to be his next tooth. The orajel seems to give him relief. And I've been putting teethers in the freezer. Anyone else have any ideas for how to give him relief?
I imagine you have already been using biter biscuits, Manna has some good ones as well as Publix. Also, I gave my kids tylenol from time to time for the pain. Check with your pediatrician of coursse, but if I had a pain in my mouth like I imagine them to have I believe it would warrant some pain relief. So, I felt comfortable doind that at night especially. Also, chewing on a cold, wet washcloth can provide some relief, and the grip handles of toddler utensils were a favorite in our household for chewing on. Oh, I am not sure how old your little one is, but if he is eating bite sized food, frozen friut and vegetable would help too. My girls ate a lot of frozen peas and carrot and other small frozen foods during their teething times. I hope some of this helps and that your nights and his get more comfortable soon. -barkey9
There are homeopathic teether tablets you cay buy that seem to help and they are totally natural. I used them a bit on both my girls in the months they were getting their side teeth, which seems to be the worst. Front teeth and molars pop through quickly with little fuss, but those canines and side teeth creep in and produce mounds of drool and swollen red gums. I read somewhere a long time ago it was the equivalent of having an absess to a baby. Time and Tylenol got me through mostly!
I bought some fresh fruit or veggie biter things at Target made by Munchkin. The have a handle and a little mesh bag you can fill with anything you child can't chew yet(that is too hard or they could possibly choke on), and he can knaw on it and get the flavor. On especially miserable teething days, I put frozen fruit chunks or carrot chunks (anything cold and somewhat hard) in there, and let him chew on it. It seems to help a good bit and he loves fruit. Well, he loves anything food related LOL . But he especially loves fruit. So maybe that will help your Jack too. The best thing is they are only a couple bucks. Ronald just broke through his 7th tooth. He had a really hard time with it too. It was on the bottom front. Maybe (hopefully) teething will get easier as the kiddos get bigger.

That's a really good idea. I will try that and let you know if it works for us. Jack's next tooth is the bottom front too. Not the ones in the middle but the next ones over. Must be a tough one.
Ya know, I haven't checked in a few days. The doc said he is working on tooth #7. He has been fine lately though. It turns out all the fussiness that I thought was teething a few weeks ago was actually Roseola. We always think it's teething as new moms, eh? LOL I'm glad Ronald broke that tooth and is sleeping better! Yay for sleeping babies!
Check out the blog section ("It's a crazy place inside a mother's head"). I wrote about it there and posted a link. And I absolutely love watching my little angel sleep. It is the best.
So that tooth #7 I thought was breaking through months ago is breaking through right now. Poor thing is shoving his fists in his mouth and wimpering and drooling. And this time I actually SEE it. We have a breakthrough!
After all that talk about Hyland's teething tablets, I am hesitating to give him those. I did the gel and just put some teethers in the freezer. Hope his discomfort doesn't last long.
Ya know, Ronald broke through that same tooth on the other side, and he had alot of trouble with that one too. He has since broken through 5 more, for a grand total of 13! I can't believe he has so many. He has not had nearly the trouble with his canines or one year molars that he did with those two on the bottom front(the ones right over from the middle), so maybe Jack will get better once his finally come through. I just gave Ronald teethers and Tylenol if he was having a truly terrible time sleeping, and that seemed to be the best thing. I am scared to give him anything that is not regulated or that hasn't been around for a long time.

Ben is cutting his top 2 teeth right now--I froze some apple slices and have been putting them in thost little chewing nets. He loves them, and it seems to give him more comfort than the regular teethers.
