Well I've put of my LO's first haircut long enough. He is now being called a girl because of his long curls in the back. Besides his hair is really thick and he is very hot natured so it's go to be trimmed. The problem is, not being from around here I don't know a good place to take a toddler for a first cut. I would think somewhere more quiet and without alot of people would be great but I want someone who will do a good job too. Are there any recommendations from anyone? Confused

Awww - the first hair cut!
I fear we'll never have any hair to cut on this kid over here. LOL
There is a Kids Kutz up here on 69. I haven't been inside but I believe it's one of those places that is fun inside and caters to babies as well as kids.

I think a few moms on the site have been there. Perhaps they can chime in.

Oh, and I'm just going to move this over to the babies & toddlers section....

We love KidzKutz!!!!!! The girls are great with the kids and mine never want to leave, they love playing in the waiting area. They have a car, airplane, hummer that the kids can sit in to get their cut, they can watch cartoons or play videos while they are in the chair. For the first haircut they take the child's picture and attach it to a card with the lock of hair in a clear pouch. They usually have coupons in Kids Life.

Thanks so much ladies! I will certainly be taking him there then. That sounds like a great place.
Kristi, I know what you mean about them growing out hair. My LO took the longest to get some hair and it's still way longer in the back than the front. It seems like when it started growing it just sprouted out overnight, just like everything with kids Big Grin

Whatever you do, don't let my mom cut bangs!!!!! She tried to help me out 2 weeks ago on my 3 year old for pictures and oye! First cut was crooked, second cut to fix the first was crooked again. Inch by inch my daughters bangs crept up her forehead and now they are wwwaaaayyyy up there - and still crooked! Oh well - it's just hair!

We had a horrible experience a Kids Katz. We took my LO for his first hair cut. The atmosphere is adorable but they scalped my sons head (not kidding). Also the girl that was cutting his hair did not know how to interact with kids. Most of the Hair dresser are right out of school (this coming from someone who works at Tara Lane, their "sister" salon). If you go to Kids Katz I would make sure you get a name of someone recommended. We have not gone back. I take my LO to Hair Impression. We use Ashley. She has a LO that is my sons age so she understands how to work with a toddler to keep them happy. We have not had a problem at all. It is a little pricy, but after the experience with Kids Katz it is worth every penny.

Thank you so much to everyone. I struggled with the decision all week and yesterday we chose Ashley at Hair Impression. She did an awesome job. My LO had to check out the ladies at first so he flirted with some at first. He sat in the chair all by himself (on a stool of course lol). He did cry but he didn't try to move which was amazing. I think he was crying because a stranger was touching him. He takes awhile to warm up to strangers. By the end of it he had all the pretty ladies ahh-ing over him, he was getting suckers left and right, and he was loving every minute of attention from the ladies Big Grin (yes my son has an eye for pretty ladies LOL). I got a lock of his curls in a book. And I was sad all night. He looks different and I miss his curls, and he does look great. But it's a reminder of how fast he is growing up.

Awwww.
Congrats to your LO for being such a big boy at the salon. He sounds like quite the charmer! And I think I will be sad too when we go through this too. I also want to save the locks. Thanks for paving the way. I'll keep this place in mind!
