Has anyone seen that commercial where the mom is fussing over the baby in the stroller at the part and the son disappears. She pulls out a child locator and gets some kind of a signal and finds him just over the hill chasing a red balloon. I have to admit that I am torn on this one. I say, "keep a better eye on your kids!", but then just the other day my 3 year old bolted from me in a store and hid in the cloths racks. Despite my frantic calls for her, she hid and thought it was a game. At that point I really really really could have used such a device. Anyone know about these?
Yes I have seen that commercial! I don't know anything about the devices or where they are even available. I thought the same thing as you... as long as you keep a good eye on your kids why would you need one? I'd like to think I wouldn't let mine wander off so far but I know how kids are. Of course, my daughter is only 12 months old so I have yet to experience her trying to wander off like that. It sounds like it would really come in handy in that kind of situation though.
I have seen them and actually checked into them. I think its a WONDERFUL idea. I am an over-protective Mom but I also know that kids can do some amazing things when they want to get away. I was a nanny for awhile and no matter how closely you watch a child if they want to get away they will. I don't have to worry about this with my 5 month old but fear the day she does what drndhogmom is talking about. I know as a child I did it to mother so much so they shut down a store she was in until I was located. I am actually thinking about investing in one when our LO is old enough.
