Jack's mommy |
I can definitely relate to clashing with my toddler lately.
Jack fights me on everything. Just because he can. It gets so frustrating. He will cause the biggest fuss over taking his milk -- and then take it. Or he'll fuss over eating dinner -- and then eat it. He'll fuss about getting dressed -- and then get dressed. Aaaaaack! It's nice to be reminded that it's normal. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_62569.html ![]() |

With my older kids, I have to remind them that the LO's resistance to certain "commands" or voicing his unhappiness is normal. Yesterday, we had our first (sort-a) tantrum. He wanted to close the car door, but big sis had already done it. Re-opening the door didn't make up for missing the first try. He stands there at the car screaming for several minutes. I pretend to go inside and leave him there. He still cried. So, I picked him up and sat him outside the door and told him he could come in when he's ready to be good. I had to go to the door twice to ask him if he was ready to be a good boy. The second time, he was ready. (I could see him out the window!)
In their minds, THEY never did anything like that. Good thing they can't remember it. |

WOW, that is nice to see that I am not alone. This is a big issue for us recently as Olivia is discovering that she has opinions and desires of her own. And as happy as I am to watch her personality developing, I occassionally find myself having trouble dealing with this amazing head strong little person who is determined to do exactly what she isn't supposed to do, lol.
