It used to be so easy to cut Jack's nails when he was a baby. All I'd do is wait until I nursed him. Now that he's a toddler and no longer nursing it's so hard! How do you ladies keep a squirmy toddler still enough to cut the nails?

My second child went through a phase where it was hard to get her to sit still for nail clipping that I did it while she was sleeping! Of course, she's a pretty hard sleeper.

Lolipops are awesome at keeping kids distracted and still. Combined one with and episode of Dora and you'll have a little zombie you can do anything to.

Yeah, Dora & Daddy.
My husband does this job, usually during an episode of Dora or Curious George. And, even then, my little one usually makes it VERY CLEAR that he doesn't like it one bit!

So I figured out how to cut his nails. Do it while he's drinking his milk. It's much easier though he still squirms a little bit. This kid loves his milk.

I have never been able to use clippers on a child's nails. Nail scissors are much easier and faster, IMO. It's practically impossible to cut them too short or nick the finger if you use them correctly.

This is still really hard! He does not like getting his nails clipped! Not even the milk trick is working anymore. Sometimes I sing and make a game of it and he gives in. But otherwise it's a nightmare and I usually have to do a few a day before the job gets done. LOL
I've never tried nail scissors. But they sound scary. Do you think I'll have better luck with those?

Ronald is starting to fight me on everything now too. Milk used to do the trick for cutting his nails too. Now he squirms and I have to have dads help to keep him occupied. I am afraid soon I will be cutting them after he is good and asleep. Although, my LO generally sleeps on his tummy, so it may be hard to work his hand out from underneath him without waking him.

With my 2 year old daughter I tell her that we have to cut them so we can paint them all pretty - and I put either a clear coat or some pale pink polish on her toes.
With my 4 year old son - I have him count them as I go.
Now mind you - neither one of them like it even with the tricks - but this does make them focus on something else while it is going on.

With my older kids, I remember cutting nails, toenails all the time. I cannot remember the last time I cut my LO's nails. I KNOW I haven't cut his fingernails in the past year. I probably have cut toenails. I don't know if they just don't grow (like his hair) or if he keeps them worn down/bitten. I've never seen him bite his nails, though.
