I've been cloth diapering part-time, too. Not as much as I ment to when I first got started, though. I really need to get back to using them most of the time! Anyway, I have a question- Don't fitted diapers have to be worn with a cover, especially if you have a heavy wetter? I've seen some really cute ones, but I'd hat to cover them up!

yes, they do need a cover. But this one has some serious soakers in it (the inserts) and is really thick. So, I let him go without a cover for a little while, air out the bum a little and to show it off. When he did wet it, it was a little wet on the outside which would have wicked onto the clothes, but I didn't have anything over it, so it didn't really hurt anything. One with less thickness in it though, I would definitely use a cover.

we only use fitted unless we go out or when she's asleep and we do no use covers. I like to know as soon as she's wet and we have so many cute ones, I wanna look at them!

So, if your are using a fitted w/out a cover, you would not put clothes over it? What about in the winter? I've been using AIO's that are so bulky many of Will's clothes don't fit over them... which is fine in the summer around the house. But I'm gonna have to put some pants on him when it gets cold out!

That's where wool comes in! But ummm wool is not cheap. It's actually more expensive than regular clothing, but it always the bum to breathe and has self cleaning properties. It only has to be washed every two weeks or so. Here's some of our wool:

These are bloomers by Luxe Baby

Here's two longies I have from JuJu Bean Baby.

Here's some fabulous knit capris by Sugarbubbie. She's doing me some custom longies right now!

I also have these two sets coming....

and just for fun, here's my sweetie in her Cowboy Blues goodmama fitted:

I also have several soakers, which are cover-like pieces of wool that go on over diapers. My favorite is SustainableBabyish, but they are SO hard to come by.

If you want to find really nice cloth diapers, stay away from the big "chain" diapers, like BumGenius and FuzziBunz and come to the HyenaCart.com. It's where WAHM's sell their stuff!

SarahMay, the cloth diaper market has exploded in the past 3-4 years. When my almost 8yo was first born, there weren't near so many options for cloth diapering. There are so many choices now, it can be overwhelming! I have always cloth diapered full-time (now on third child)and find that trial and error sometimes is the best way. I will buy one or two of one style of diaper to see if I like it. Then if I love it, I buy more, and if I don't, I still use it but it's not my favorite. I am not a big fan of the Fuzzy Bunz myself and just got my first BumGenius AIO, which I like so far (I'll likely buy more). I think my point here is that I have tried diapers before that other people raved about and didn't care for them (take the FuzzyBunz example), and I might like ones that other poeple aren't crazy about (Kushie's AIO, for example). But there are a lot of options, from the basic and functional to the fashionable, and you have to try some out to decide which ones you like best.

OMG I am drooling over here!!!! That Ella Elephant is outfit is TDF!!!! I am dying to get my hands on an ella dipe!

I haven't found the wool yet! But so far we do babylegs with her fitteds if its cool. But since we are moving to Iowa, I'll be looking into the wool longies.

You need to send the cowboy gm to the contest!

Rootie, I really envy your collection. I am afraid I will never be able to spend a lot of money on diaper collecting, but it is slowly becoming an obsession for me as well. So far I don't have any wool, but I do have a few fleece soakers that I got for a good deal. I would like a couple wool pants or shorts like your have on your daughter.

I leave Aidan without a cover on the nice fitteds as well, but I have some not so thick ones that have to have a cover. And he is getting older, so as soon as he walks more than crawls, I will be much more likely to leave a cover off. Then he isn't dragging the pee all over the carpet. lol.
