Will's not walking yet. I kind of figure he will be a late walker because he likes to crawl so much and can get around so fast now. I'm not concerned about him not walking yet, but I'm just curious- when did your LO take their firts step? I read that on average babies take their first step between 13 and 15 months, but it seems like everyoune's 10-month old is already walking, so I wounder if that is acurate.

My daughter didn't start walking until 15 months, but her cousins - one is a day older and one is a month older - were walking well before her! So I think it is different for each kid. She was a super speedy crawler, so I guess she figured that she could get around that way and didn't really need to walk. She didn't even start the "cruising" around using the furniture until 13-14 months! But once she figured it out, that was it! Baby proof your home!!!

Lucas didn't walk until 15 months. He has been slow to do most things. Sitting up, walking, talking, and now potty training. I think it is different for every child. Don't worry it will happen!

Olivia was a great crawler and cruiser. She never even attempted to walk until after her 1st birthday. She finally took her first steps one week after her 1st Birthday and was walking everywhere within about 2-3 weeks.

Mine both took their first steps between 10 and 11 months, but they weren't walking until right around their first birthdays.

Same thing with Jack. He took his first steps at around 10-11 mos but didn't officially start walking until just after his first birthday. I think it was a week after he turned 1.

Anabelle didn't take her first steps until a week before her first birthday, and then didn't care to try again for another week or two. I'd say she had it down by about 13 months.

Amelia took her first steps at 10 months exactly, and was walking well within a week.

Lynnlee started walking around 10 -11 months but she never really crawled! she scooted EVERYWHERE, it was the cutest thing ever. They always start when they are ready, every child is different. I was 9 months when I started, i was pretty wild though lol...

I think that is accurate. Most of everyone I know who has had kids within the last few years reported around their 1st birthday that they had started walking. Duncan on the other hand, has done everything extremely early. 4 teeth at 4 months, walked at 8 months! He crawled for about a day and then got up walking and has not stopped yet! He really has not been your typical baby. Don't worry, Will will be walking before you know it.

Connor will be 1 Sept 19. He isn't walking yet either. He crawled, said ma-ma & pulled himself up all in one week @ about 9 or 10 mo. He cruises all along furniture & will walk behind toys but won't let go & take off on his own yet. It took him forever to finally crawl. He scooted around & crawled on his hands and feet for about 3 mo before he finally really crawled!!!

I saw Lily take a her frist steps at 11 months -but she didn't do it often.. every now and then she let go of what she was holding on to and took a step or two. Then on her birthday she took a few more steps than I had seen. Well, all of a sudden she is walking everywhere since about 2 weeks ago and she is getting really fast. So she started walking at 12 months. It happen out of nowhere it seemed. Now I am chasing her all over the house and she is getting into even more stuff so get preapred to chase him around. I'm sure it wont be too much longer. All babies walk at their own time though. Some walk as early as 7 or 8 months (I cant even imagine Lily walknig that early) and others not until 15 months or later. II bet Will will be walking soon though!

Hi SarahMay,

Lest you get daunted by all the early walkers, let me chime in. My daughter didn't walk until about 18 months. She was a bit behind b/c she was a preemie, but even taking that into consideration, she walked at the equivalent of what should have been 15 months for her.

She's now more than caught up in her development and is way ahead in verbal skills, so it's so true that each kid has his or her own developmental schedule. And even if he walks on the late side, it doesn't mean everything he'll do will be late. All in good time!

My LO started taking his first steps on his own about 1-2 weeks before his birthday. After about a week after his birthday was was walking alot but he is almost 15 months and he is a pro walker now. I was worried about my LO not walking by his first b-day but after he started taking those first steps then it all happened so quick! Now he gets into EVERYTHING, so enjoy your LO not walking while you can!

Will started taking a couple of steps here and there last week. Then last night he took several steps a bunch of times. I don't think he's taken more than about 5 in a row yet and it's usually less than that. He pretty much runs till he hits something or someone. I'll try to post a video, but it may take a while. My internet is sort of slow right now.
