Hi Kasha! Welcome! Our babies are only a week apart. You must be in the middle of planning the first birthday party too. But that's for another thread. LOL
FunnyMummy - I have been trying to find new snacks for Jack and I never thought of beets. I'll have to try that. Thanks!

Not sure if this fits well in this particular forum, but when my two girls were approaching a year and we were given the go ahead on feeding them anything we ate, I was a bit nervous about food allergies and choking and here is something that really really helped me . . .

I was selling Pampered Chef at the time and had several of their choppers. These little creations are priceless. You can take anything at all that you are eating (including nuts) and chop them to a consistancy you like (large chopped pieces right down to mush) and your kids can eat accordingly with fingers or spoons or even straws. This was helpful to me because I would chop things for snacks like raw carrots and apples, pears, melons, even cheeses.

So, get a chopper and annihilate everything!!

The chopper comes in handy for me with spaghetti--those noodles are hard to handle.
