I wish I could find more organic food! I have a hard time finding the organic food that I want. I usually go to Publix (in Northport) but other than bananas I can't find much else. They do have a few other things but they are very expensive. I do buy organic baby food whenever possible. I know that Target has a good selection of organic foods (or so I've heard) but Target is just too far from us to get groceries there. Frowner

Mama2Princesa, I usually buy organic lettuce, and sometimes apples, at Publix, as well as milk and eggs and some cheese. Manna also has a lot of organic products but not so much produce, although they have Snow's Bend Farm produce available right now.

What kind of stuff are you looking for? I go to the publix in northport too (the one on McFarland, not Rice Mine), and I found they actually have a much larger organic variety than I originally thought. I just had to search for it.

I go to the one on McFarland too. I know they have the organic bananas although I usually don't have a chance to get any as the best ones have always been picked over apparently. I've also seen the organic apples. Do they have organic peaches? I haven't seen those.
Organic chicken and beef sure would be nice.

Mama - Ok, first the organic fruit. They do have more than bananas and apples, but it tends to vary what they have. When you get to the produce section, go to the right, in the cold case where the carrots, celery, etc are. On the very right side (almost touching the juice section) are more organic fruits.

Again, not a huge selection, but I have seen peaches I think and a few others.

They actually have a pretty good organic meat section. If you are standing in the meat section facing the window where the meat people work (so, the seafood and steaks and stuff are in front of you, and the chicken, pork, etc are to your left), it will be in the meat cases in front of you, all the way to the left. They have organic chicken (breasts, thighs, tenderloins), steaks, ground beef, pork chops, sausages.

I hope that helps! It really is hard to find that stuff unless you search.

Oh - milk. You didn't ask, but they have their organic milk in two different places. They have some (stonyfield, horizons) by the yogurt, on the bottom, and then they have more (publix brand, more horizons) in the regular milk section. You sometimes have to ask for the publix brand though (only comes in gallons I think, not half). They only put one or two out at a time b/c they aren't big sellers, so I usually just knock on their service door and ask them to get me some from the back.

Actually, the Greenwise chicken at Publix is not organic. It has no added hormones or preservatives but it is no free-range and is not certified organic, which is different. I think they do carry other brands of organic beef and pork and do have some organic chicken sausage at times. Target has fresh organic chicken and Manna carries it frozen.
