I found this information in the latest issue of Toddler Magazine and thought it was helpful.
Here's what toddlers should be getting: Carbs: 130 grams daily Why: main source of energy for developing brains How: Cheerios, oatmeal, all veggies, brown rice, potatoes, whole-grain breads, pasta Fiber: 19 grams daily Why: prevents constipation and helps digestion How: whole grains, fruits, veggies, beans, peas, peanuts Fat: 30 to 40 grams Why: energy source, helps improve absorption of vital vitamins and aids neurological development How: peanut butter, oils such as soybean, flaxseed, olive and canola, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, fish, eggs Note: there is no nutritional need for fat-filled foods such as bakery goods and butter so limit these Protein: 13 grams daily Why: the building block for all the cells in your toddler's growing body How: meat, poultry, fish, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, nuts, beans Calories: Age 2: 1,000 calories daily Age 3: 1,000 to 1,4000 calories daily Age 4: Boys: 1,200 to 1,600 calories daily; Girls: 1,200 to 1,400 calories daily This is according to the United States Department of Agriculture ![]() |
