Here are 10 tips for parents who want their kids to develop healthy eating habits.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/food/general/eating_tips.html Growing up, we always had junk food in the house. Yet, I'm not a big junk food eater now and don't really buy it (with the exception of cookies. I always have a small cookie stash because I love to have one after dinner). So kids don't always develop bad eating habits if the parents eat bad but I agree it's more likely. In fact, now that I think about it, my older brother doesn't have the best eating habits. So I guess that may have had more of an influence on him. And who hasn't grown up with the "clean your plate" rule? My parents always wanted me to clean my plate. And my grandmother acted like I committed a crime if I didn't eat every morsel. I don't think I'll do that with Jack. But you don't want to waste food either. ![]() ![]() |

We had the "clean your plate rule" too when I was growing up. I remember being made to sit at the table till I was finished (long after the rest of the family was done eating) and being threatened that if I didn't eat it now, I'd have to eat it for breakfast the next mourning. Who wants broccoli for breakfast?!? I don't like wasting food either, but I don't think I'll enforce that rule as strictly as my parents did.

Broccoli for breakfast - yuck! That is, unless it's made into an omelet with cheese. LOL
