According to Parents Magazine, a national poll says 81.5 million people in our country have considered adoption. Yet, very few families actually do it.

Why do you think that is? Have you considered adopting?

I often said that if I couldn't have my own that I would probably adopt. I don't know if I would actually be able to do it though. I think people talk about it a lot, and then discover the wait and the cost and it changes their mind. I have to be honest and tell you that I didn't realize that it sometimes can take 18 months for the process.

I just got my Parents magazine this weekend and it had an article in it about the different types of adoption - I can't find it online though or I would post it. It listed an agency adoption, international adoption, and foster care adoption. I know some people that I work with who did the foster care adoption, and they still had all kinds of hoops that they had to jump through. It was obviously worth it, but it had to be tough too.
