Do you support a bill that will allow alcohol sales on Sundays in Tuscaloosa?
It might be happening soon. http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20080314/NEWS/763797608/1007 When we moved here over the summer, we thought it was strange that we couldn't buy alcohol on Sundays and we'd always forget to buy it on Saturdays and then football day would come around and we'd be without beer. LOL. At first I thought it was strange the few times we'd watch the football game in a sports restaurant and everyone was drinking soda and lemonade. I kind of liked it though. It didn't bother me. It's nice to know that everyone isn't drinking and then driving home. So I'm cool with whatever is decided. ![]() ![]() |

I think it's a silly law and should be changed.
If adults want to drink, it should not matter what day of the week it is. I mean, religious folks can get blasted every other day of the week, just not on Sunday? And some other days are holy in other religions - what about those? They don't matter? It really doesn't make a difference to me, because I actually don't drink at all. I Don't like how it tastes or how it makes me feel. But I do think the law is silly. |

I think they should definitely pass the law to allow it to be sold.
Honestly, I don't even understand why it would be banned on sundays. We have a separation of church and state in our country. So, if we're talking about legal decisions, how is Sunday different than any other day of the week when alchol sales ARE allowed? Also, from a purely practical standpoint, it's bad for our local economy. Birmingham does allow alcohol sales on Sunday, so we lose lots of revenue. What was it - two years ago? - when news year eve fell on a Sunday. Tuscaloosa lost sooo much money b/c everyone went out partying in Bham. Well, I assume from what I read. I have no life anymore and don't to get to go out partying. LOL. But I'm talking about everyone else. |

Is there any other reason for this except religion? If not, it seems to be on the fringes being unconstitutional... something that my son (when this topic was brought up on the radio) picked up on when he was about 13. I was like,"WOW"... little lawyer in training.

FunnyMummy,
Here are some links to articles on the subject if you want to learn more. It's an interesting issue, and we are apparently very much in the minority of states that still have Sunday alcohol sale prohibitions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_law http://uspolitics.about.com/od/electionissues/l/bl_blue_laws_booze.htm |
