So, I thought I'd save a few bucks and color my hair (not something I haven't done before). I went to the drug store and bought "Light Brown" permanent hair color.

Well, all I need now is some black lipstick and I will have the goth look going for me.

Honestly, why is this? There is no way that anyone would possibly call this light brown. It's not a bad color, actually. But I don't think my current hair/skin color combo exists in nature. I'll give it a week. If it doesn't lighten up (I doubt), I will seek professional help.

So, if you know me, and see someone you think you recognize... take a second look. Yes, it's me. Don't laugh.

This is why I stopped messing with the boxed stuff years ago. Now I get my goods from Sally's beauty supply and mix it myself (of course it helped that my beautician told me what to get lol). But the clerks are really helpful in there.
If it hasn't been too long since your hair was colored you maybe can tone it down with a wash with a good bit of shampoo?

Hey - I did that! In high school I picked light brown and put it over my medium brown hair and got black. Then I swam and got a reddish orange and finally green! It took professionals to get me back to my natural brown. I haven't touched the stuff since.

Hi, my name is Colleen and it's been 22 years since I've had a color. (everyone say together) Welcome Colleen.

Bad joke - I know.

Grndhogmom- your too funny. I dont color my hair either so your not alone. I keep hoping the gray will stay away for a few more years.

FM- I am sorry the color didn't work out as planned. Hopefully it will fade after a couple of washes to the light brown color you had hoped for Smiler

FM - sorry about that! I hope it fades for you too.
And grndhgmom - LOL.
This is why I'm afraid to color my own hair. I've never done it.
In fact, I don't color my hair at all. I went through a highlighting phase in college. But now it's au natural until the grays set in.

Sorry your hair didn't turn out right.

I've heard that if you was your hair with Tide laundry detergent, it will take the hair dye out or at least make it fade some. I have no idea if this really works or not. I also don't know if it has to be Tide or if you can use any brand.

Thanks, everybody!

You know, it doesn't look all that bad except for the fact that it's not me looking back from the mirror! I should be used to it b/c when I was younger, I wore all shades of browns (w/ & w/o highlights) and reds, too. I've never been a blonde, though. About 6-7 years ago, I cut it all off to about 1 1/2 inches all over to get rid of all colored hair. I'll not do that again, but I don't think I'll stick to this color.
