I do not understand how in the heck this can happen? How do you "forget" about your child in a car for an hour much less 9? This is insane! What kind of people "forget" about their kids? I would be willing to bet that they didn't leave their purse/briefcase in the car when they got out yet they left their kid(s). The Mom who left her child in the car to hang out at the bar is a very sorry excuse for a human. Irresponsibility drives me crazy and these poor kids suffered from irresponsible parents. There is no excuse for leaving your child(ren) in a car, home, or anywhere else unattended and in danger. Children are helpless and depend on adults to take care of them. I do not care how stressed, tired, busy, depressed, or anything else you are I do not see this as being a valid excuse for leaving your child in a car.
I can't tell you how many of these stories I have read, and each one is more heartbreaking than the next.
I can't imagine this either. It's just horrifying.
My honda odyssey has some sort of sensor built in. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I do know that if you turn the car off and take the keys out of the ignition, yet someone is still sitting in any of the seats, after a certain amount of time all of the windows automatically open an inch or two. Pretty cool feature.

That is a very neat feature to have and would save a lot of lives. Have you actually tested that? Not with your kids but with yourself? I am just curious how it works and how long it takes. Also is it done by weight in the seat or movement?

I'm not really sure how it works. We found it out by accident.
I had loaded my car in the morning for work, and had put my keys in the ignition (I do it every morning - so I know where they are LOL), and I had a big bag of stuff that I was bringing that day that I stuck in the carseat on the backseat.
I walked back in the house and when I came out about 10 minutes or so later, all four windows were cracked exactly the same amount, and I had rolled NONE of them down.
