LOL PP!
So this morning I was really annoyed at my DH. He used my car yesterday and took out the umbrella stroller and I didn't know it. So I am used to that thing being in the back and I didn't think to look this morning when I was rushing out for an 8:30 doc appt.
So I drive to the other side of town, park, go around the back, open up the car and - NO STROLLER. I was fuming. That meant my 1 year-old would be running wild while I was being tended to.
I asked the office if they wanted me to reschedule and they said no we could give it a whirl. Fortunately, Jack was pretty good and didn't get into too much trouble. But it was a bit stressful worrying about him while trying to pay attention to what was going on with me.
Note to self: always check back of car for stroller.
Note to husband: don't EVER do that to me again!

Well What I thought was going to be a nice restful day at home turned into total an emergency trip to the dentist.

When I was fixing lunch yesterday I dropped a small piece of chicken and Olivia grabbed it up and took off running across the kitchen giggling. She wasn't watching where she was going and tripped and fell sending her face down hard on our tile flooring. When I went over to pick her up there was blood pouring out of her mouth. I laid her down and tried to look but you can imagine how difficult it would be to look in an upset toddlers mouth. She bite me like 10 times before i decided to give her a few minutes. After a couple minutes I had her calmed down enough to look and the first thing i noticed was the red torn flesh in between her front teeth. I called her pediatricans office and spoke with a nurse and she said it sounds like she has torn her (sorry girls I can't remember the correct name, but it is the piece of skin that is in between your gums and the outer wall of your mouth) and will need to see an oral surgeon this afternoon, I will call you back after i talk to your doctor. Well you can imagine how freaked out i was to hear the words oral surgeon and immediately called DH to come home and called MIL to be available if i needed her. Then the nurse calls me back and was like you have an appointment in 1:30 at a pediatric dentist. She told me that after talking to the doc she said she probably wouldn't need surgery like she had said earlier but that there might be some minor repair needed. So I leave out with Olivia not knowing what to expect. Well when we get there the receptionist calmed me down alot by tell me that alot of kids have this happen and that the doc just needs to look at it. Luckily she was right, the doctor looked at it and said that yes she did tear it but it was a minor tear and would heal on it own. I was so frustrated when we left but I guess it is always better to have them check out so you know they are okay. One good thing came out of it though, i found Olivia a pediatric dentist that We really liked, lol.

Wow, LivisMoms, that sounds incredibly stressful! Thank goodness it was all ok in the end. Anytime there's a lot of blood it's so hard as a parent to know whether it's serious or not, and it's always scary.

Livismom - how scary - but yea that you found a dentist - and better yet - one with a staff that makes you feel good.

I just got the word that a classmate from high school died of cancer. She's been fighting colon cancer for 4 years now and seemed to be improving and doing so much better. We're just too young to be having to worry about stuff like this. She was an amazing person. Beautiful, smart, funny, the kind of person you were glad you were friends with.
Everyone hug your DH and kids especially tight tonight.

Oh LivisMom, I'm glad she's OK. I completely freak out when Jack bleeds. It's only happened like twice and I really need to toughen up! I would have been a mess. So glad it all worked out and Olivia is OK.

GG, that is really sad. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I was already planning on hugging DH and Jack extra tight after watching the coverage of Pausch's death today. Ugh. Sad, sad, sad.

Well, happy weekend girls!
I'm off to GA to visit with family.

This heat is really something. Poor LO loves getting outside but it's really too hot so we have to wait until dusk (a.k.a. mosquito feeding time).
I overplanted tomatoes again this year. We're getting a sack full everyday. Leave it to me to create even more work around here.
I can't believe it's almost August. Holy cow. Four months until Christmas. Three months till my LO's 2nd birthday! Geeze. What the heck happened? I need a pause button to slow this year down a bit. I'm already starting to check out the toys for b'day/Christmas. Eeker

Ya know, I was just telling DH yesterday that Jack would be 2 in four months and I couldn't believe it.
I'm excited to spend Christmas in our new house this year. But sad that we're not traveling north to see our families. Frowner It's just too much to do it every year.

Yes, this heat is too much. We waited until 5 o'clock yesterday before taking a walk and hitting the pool.

Sorry ladies but this will be a BIG vent!!!

FOr the past month I have been telling DH that my car isn't starting right away and that I think i need a new battery. Well he wouldn't bother to look at it and just kept telling me it could wait. Well today my mom and I went to visit my grandmother and when we all got in the car to go to lunch it wouldn't start. SO we all had to get back out and change the carseat to my grandmothers car, then we had to call my dad to see if he could come and change the batter. Luckily my dad is off work today. I am so furious at DH, We are truly bless that this happened today instead of a time when Olivia and I could have been stranded alone in this awful heat. Uhhhhh!!!!

Whew, now i feel alot better Smiler

Livismom- I am sorry about your car. My old car had to have its battery replaced twice during the time I owned it ( 10 years), but my husband and I both learned how to change batteries for it together

Yes, sorry LM. But I'm glad you didn't get stranded, like you said. My DH can tend to procrastinate too. It can be annoying.

Funny little story. A friend of mine from NY called me this morning at 6:55 a.m. The phone rang twice and then stopped. But I saw her number. I called her back and she was like, I'm so sorry! I forgot about the time difference! LOL. We've lived in Central Time for over a year now and our friends still sometimes forget. Of course, I was up. So it wasn't a problem. But would you ever call anyone before 7 a.m.? So she was thinking she woke me up and felt bad. Nope. Not with this kid. He's up well before 7. LOL

Actually no I wouldn't call anyone earlier than 9 am unless it was an emergency.

I have a question....My sis and mom think that my oldest daughter is autistic and they think that I should get her evaluated. They think this mainly because she talks but not clearly and she is sensitive to loud noises and such. Thos of you who have met her know she responds in social sitiuations and Looks people in the eye. Should I worry and get her evaluated? I just don't hink she is autistic< i think think she is just a 3 year old. I mean she learns well, she knows her ABCs and can ID them on paper. She can count to 20. She makes up stories for her favorite books and she dresses up and pretends. She recognizes certain words on paper.

Yeah when you ask her old she is, she responds wtith Katie, but that would be my fault by not asking it at home in the first place, but she can tell you her name if asked and show you where she lives.

Sorry if this is so long, but my family is getting stressed out.

KaiteEm, I would try not to worry. I'm no expert or anything but she doesn't sound autistic to me. A lot of 3 year olds don't talk very clear yet. But, it's good that she knows her ABCs and can count. Also, about the loud noises I think that's pretty normal, especially since you stay home with her. She may just not be exposed to a lot of loud noises. I know Will is younger than Katie, but loud noises freak him out too.
