I think it would be great to build up downtown Northport. It's such a cute little area. But I'd still want it to be quaint. I don't know about the marina and city hall ideas...but a foot bridge and walking areas and some more room for stores (unique stores not a Target)...that would be cool....
I've heard good things about the food at the City Cafe...anyone eat there? http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20080325/NEWS/924240346/0/FRONTPAGE ![]() |

City Cafe is definitely yummy - especially now that it's no longer cash only (the main reason we never used to go). It's just hard to make it there if you work - they are only open until like 3pm I think, M-F. Definitely worth eating at though! It's a classic meat and three type place.
I think that if done right, developing downtown Northport would be awesome. The downtown main street would still have the charm, and they are talking about preserving the shoreline, train tracks, etc. Which is important. I LOVE the bridge idea. I think we really do need a marina. We lose a lot of revenue by having nowhere for boat traffic to pull over. I'm from West Palm Beach, FL and there were so many places with awesome restaurants like Steamers, and visitors would pull their boats right up and hop out to eat. Think of the extra business it could bring! |
