Hi everyone,
I grew up on Long Island, and every once in a while I read my "hometown" paper. I saw this today and thought, "What a GREAT idea!" Then I started wondering whether we could convince the Cobb Theater to do something like this. (I'm pretty sure nothing like this exists in Tuscaloosa, but correct me if I am wrong!) What are everyone's thoughts? http://www.exploreli.com/entertainment/localguide/ny-xl...vies,0,1902284.story |

What a great idea! You know - it wouldn't hurt to pass that on to the Cobb chain. They do free movies for kids in the summer - so why couldn't they do this for moms?

kristi p,
I will gladly take on this charge by getting in touch with the management over at the Cobb Theater and at least starting a conversation about this. But I think my argument would be stronger if I could say it has the backing of moms who visit the Tusc Moms site, and especially if I knew something about how many visits Tusc Moms gets in a day. Is that the kind of information you could share with me? Thanks! |

Boston Girl -
Kristi is on vacation this week - but you might want to send her a private message so she will be sure to get it. I'm sure she would share the information though. That would be awesome if we could get that here. It's such a great idea. |

Boston Girl, I wrote a story about this in 03 when I was working for a daily paper outside of Boston.
That's when the whole concept started. There was a test run in NYC and it was really successful. Then they brought it to Boston. Now I'm sure it's in a lot of places. It was so cool. The lights were turned up a little bit, there was a changing station in the corner, stroller parking outside and if babies cried no one cared. They did it on Tuesday mornings, I believe, which was generally a slow time for the theater. It would be awesome if we could get this to happen around here. And if you want to try to make it happen I'm all for it. Let me know how I can help. ![]() |

DH and I would love it if Cobb would give this a try. There are so many movies we want to see but have to wait until they come out on DVD because we don't want to get a sitter.
I think this is a pretty popular concept in alot of places. I know there are alot of theaters in the DFW, Texas area that offer them from talking with moms on another forum. From what i've heard the theater will have one movie at a certain time each week where parents are welcome to bring thier children. I've heard it called the "Crybaby Matinee". They keep the lights dim and the volume set a little bit lower than normal. Here is a link from a theater in Dallas, Texas that offers this. http://www.angelikafilmcenter.com/angelika_special_prog...age=Special+Programs |
