Well, Jack has his first summer cold. He has a runny nose and is coughing. No fever. He's cranky and not napping well today. I think it's because he's all plugged up. I'm not treating it with anything. I talked to the local pharmacist who said he doesn't recommend any OTC meds at his age. He said to call my pedi if the runny nose is no longer clear or if a fever occurs. Otherwise just let it run its course. Sounds reasonable to me. I don't like to medicate anyway unless absolutely necessary. I hope it just goes away soon. It's hard enough dealing with a sick child without traveling with a sick child. Ugh.
Poor baby! And poor mommy too. I know I hate it when my LOs aren't feeling well.
Did you ask the ped or pharmacist about using Vick's? It says to ask if they are under 2 - but our ped has ok'd it before when mine are snotty like that. Just a thought.
Someone also once told me that it works just as well to put it on their feet and then put socks on. I haven't tried it....but you never know! It would definitely prevent it from getting all over pajamas and bedsheets.

I hope he feels better soon! And hopefully you won't have too difficult a night. With mine, it's always the sleeping that gets most disrupted by the stuffy nose. Can you use saline spray, like that Simply Saline stuff? And maybe a humidifier? That seems to help mine when they're sick.
Vicks makes something called Baby Rub. It's vapor rub made for babies 3 months and up. Will has had 2 colds, since he was born, and that seemed to help him a lot. Also the saline spray and humidifier help too.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. He seems to be doing OK. I put a humidifier in his room last night and I think it helped. I also bought the Baby Vics. Vics on the feet, eh? Interesting. He was coughing a bit when I put him down but he still managed to get a decent night's sleep. Runny/crusty nose. No fever. In pretty good spirits today. So I think he's fighting it off. Maybe he's just not used to this weather. It's only 60 degrees here. Brrrrr! This Tuscaloosa girl isn't used to that. But it is kind of refreshing too. LOL
