Hey everyone this is my first post, but thought this might be a good place to find some interest.

Some friends and I are starting a weight loss war on Monday(21st). We are using the website www.weightlosswar.com to track the progress. Each person is putting in 25.00, and who ever reaches there personal goal by the end of the year wins.

If you are interested send me a PM and I'll give you more information.

Thanks

ummmm, the link you posted goes to a domain that is for sale... not a real website. And how can the person that reaches their personal goal win? What if more than one person reaches their goal? What if I set my personal goal at 1 ounce? And who holds on to everyone's money in the mean time?? Sorry, if I'm wrong, but this sounds very sketchy to me.....

No it's not sketchy at all. All of us signed up so far are from the Tuscaloosa area. No one else has had trouble with the site. Looks like it should have been www.weightlosswars.com, I left the s off the previous post. We are setting realistic goals. If you only need to loss an ounce, then you probably don't need the motivation and help that the others signed up do.

The war may not be for everyone.

Ok, this link did open. Maybe this is a legitimate site, I don't know. Red flags went up when I saw your post asking people to put up money. Again, who hangs onto the money during the contest?

I actually have a lot more than an once to lose, but I'm not interested in participating. I was just trying to make a point. People could set their goal very low to try to insure a win.

I see your point in the goals. We are still working the kinks out. It's mainly just a site to help keep each other on track and motivated. It helps that we all know and trust each other. The winner may end up being whomever losses the most weight.

Sarah - from what I can tell there is no money involved in the site. It's just a way for people to keep track of weigh loss, root for each other, etc.

I think jdvinson was saying that SHE and her friends have made a little contest amongst themselves ... so there are probably no formal rules about who holds money etc, yet. I think it's just an extra incentive for all of them to get motivated.

Sorry if I'm interpreting wrong - I understand Sarah's skepticism, but I think I also understand what the point of this all way so I was trying to help clarify.

Jdvinson- welcome to tuscmoms! Have you posted about yourself in the intro section yet? I'd love to hear more about you and your kiddos.

Sorry if I was at all rude about this!! I'm probably over just over skeptical about everything like this and paranoid about getting scammed. Anyway the site does sound like a good idea and a good way for people to motivate each other. I just tend to think it's not a good idea to get involved with things that involve trusting a stranger with my money, especially since I don't have much to spare!

Thanks everyone for helping me clear everything up. It's kinda hard to get your point across sometimes with typed words. :-)

This was my first post, and I have just started reading this board this week. I think it's great that there are so many different topics, and the book club and nights out sound like a wonderful haven.
