Just wanted to let everyone know of a good place to get your car seat installed or have the installation checked. I believe some of the police stations do it, but I never remembered to call to get an appointment on the one or two days a month when they do it. So, needless to say, I was happy when I found out about West Alabama Community Traffic Safety, an organization located on the Shelton State Community College Campus.
You can call for an appointment. I was pretty much able to name my time, rather than be limited to the one or two days open through the police department. It took about 15 minutes. I already had my seat installed. The technician uninstalled it and started from scratch, walking me through the proper installation. I think we pretty much had it in properly, but she was very helpful in getting it more tightly secured. She also had lots of great safety tips, some of which I knew and some of which I didn't. They also take down your car seat info in case there is a recall that affects your seat. Anyway, it's a small investment of time and might make a big difference in keeping your little one safe. I highly recommend the service. (And it's free!) You can reach West Alabama Community Traffic Safety at 205-758-9743. They are located at 3401 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Tuscaloosa, Building #200 on the Shelton State Community College Campus. |

Hi everyone,
I just dug up my old post on this b/c it's finally time to turn my carseat around and I wanted to get some help. I called to schedule an appointment and West Alabama Community Traffic Safety told me they are going to be having an event at Sam's Club this Saturday (the 13) from 2-5 and you can stop by then if you want some help or just want someone to check to make sure your installation is properly done. |
