Hey, does anyone out there have this weird thing? Ever since I birthed my 2nd child I have had "borderline" thyroid blood tests. Doctors aren't doing anything about it, even though it runs in my family like the Colorado River. The symptoms are annoying like: TIRED all the time (like fall asleep if you stand still tired), unable to loose weight, bad concentration, dry skin, headaches and hair loss. I wonder if anyone has this condition and if you are taking medicine for it. If not, what are you doing to be your best? I really think my doc is holding off on putting me on a daily medicine (cause it will be for life) but I am at the point where I feel 65 years old!

When you combine a full time job, 2 kids ages 3 and 5 and this condition you get one unhappy miserable mom! I feel like a slug.

So sorry to hear you are having those issues. I hope they can figure it out soon. I don't know what I would do if I felt bad all the time on top of being a working mom. Life is hard enough for us even without being run down. Here's hoping they get it under control soon!

I've been taking Synthroid because of hypothyroidism -- "low thyroid" -- for 8 years. It took a few weeks before I began to feel better but I remember my husband saw our doctor about a month after the diagnosis and thanked him -- not just for the difference it made in me, but for the difference he experienced in having a wife who was not exhausted all the time.

I was always tired and that can make you an unpleasant person to spend time with. I was always the coldest one in the room -- asking for the window to be closed while everyone else said they were hot and wearing a sweater when everyone else was in T-shirts. Ditto what grndhogmom says about weight, skin and concentration.

Yes it's a daily pill but it has been worth it.

See - I knew it! My mother is on that (Synthroid)and she told me it made a world of difference. I wonder why my doc is holding off - I guess a 2nd opinion is in order, but what a hassle. I just want my energy and waistline back - hee hee. Thanks for the response!
