Hey, did you know that your calorie burn is 20 percent higher when you push a baby stroller at 3.5 miles per hour than when you just walk without a stroller? This is according to a University of Wisconsin study. And if you want to keep track of your speed, time and distance when strolling your LO, there are products on the market to help you do that. Check Target or another store for wireless pedometers for baby strollers.
I wonder how many more calories you burn carrying your baby? I usually have my girl in a mei-tai like baby carrier or a pouch. I know I have to be burning more calories. I'm beat after a good long walk at the park with her.
Okay - here is what I don't understand: In the beginning you have a 6 to 7 pound baby and all the stuff that comes with them weighs 100+ pounds (the carrier, diaper bag, big cadillac stroller that holds the carrier) - you would think the weight would melt off like butter.
Later on, this is what happens: You have a sleeping 6 year old and 3 year old, one weighs 42 pounds and one weighs 37 pounds, you have 2 backpacks from school stuffed with rocks and crap, your own crap (20 pound purse, etc.) and double trips from you car in the basement at the bottom of a flight of stairs. I make the trip up and down those stairs at least 10 times a day with over 50 pounds of "stuff and kid" in my arms and I still can't get back into my 8's comfortably!
