Hi everyone,

My daughter is 14 months old. I still use her bouncy seat to keep her in place while I am in the shower (though I do have to give her something else to entertain herself, or she will try to wiggle her way out). Tonight, for the first time in a long time, I had to break out the bouncy seat to calm her down when she just would not go to bed. (The seat and a blanket and a sippy cup and her music DVD calmed her -- not just the seat!)

Anyway, when she turned one I wanted to get her the Pottery Barn Kids "My First Anywhere Chair," because I have a girlfriend who has them for her two boys and they (the chairs) are great. But I really still need something where I can strap her in, the way I can with her bouncer. The trouble is, she's outgrowing/outgrown her bouncy seat both in length and in weight.

That being said, is anyone aware of any "big baby" bouncy seats? Or any similar alternative without going right away to the "big kid" chair that she is just not *quite* ready for?

Thanks so much. I know I have posted a ton today and you're all probably sick to death of me, but your advice and suggestions have been invaluable!

I do not know if this helps are not but one suggestion that I have is to completely child proof one room in your house, and baby gate it off. We have done this with out living room. I am able to see and or hear what is going on from every room in the house. Your LO will have a safe area you can put her in if you need to. I usually leave the TV on to Word World or It's a Big, Big World. My LO scoots around on the floor, plays with his toys, and watches TV. It works well for me. I am able to get a quick bath, and get some work done as needed. I have done this with my LO and so far it seems to work out well. I also have a friend who has done this with her LO's and it works well.
Another thing would be to buy one of those jumpy things with all the toys attached, and here again, she would be confined in one area and have something to keep her entertained.

My daughter had outgrown her seat by the time she was 6 months old. Anyway, I don't know the answer but I hope someone else may know becuase I've been wondering the same thing. I haven't seen anything like this either.
I usually just put her in the pack n play when I take a shower.

Prestonsmamma, thanks for the suggestions. We don't have the kind of place where we can entirely babyproof a single room, but the jumperoo idea is something we do occasionally have success with. Our bathroom is pretty hilarious looking when we have the jumperoo in the middle of it! Smiler

I suppose I'm also thinking more of a "chair" where she can rest, and not just a way to contain her while I shower, etc. Mama2Princesa, maybe we should pool together and send Fisher Price a barrage of messages until they make us a big kid bouncer!

Yep - such a thing exists! It's a toddler rocker chair, with the option of strapping in.

Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Infant-To-Toddler-Ro...ue-Red/dp/B0002ZOI9W

I've never used it with the strap, but both of my girls like theirs. It's been on my mind b/c I've been thinking of getting rid of ours - I'll let you know if we decide to!

That said, neither of mine would stay strapped in a seat past about 6 months, so I'm impressed. We generally did the same as mentioned above - put them in a safe area of the house and let them have the run.
