Tuscaloosa will receive a 9 percent tax break on clothing, school supplies and other items from Aug. 1-3.

So save your back to school shopping for those days, ladies!

Just as some food for thought, I tend to find this weekend to be a huge ripoff.

Maybe it's because I'm a huge sale shopper, but my experience is that on this weekend, the stores remove ALL sales from clothing, etc, and just give you the sales break. I'd rather have the normal sales and pay tax, then pay full price with no tax ... and deal with the crowds.

I am really curious if others have had different experiences though.

Interesting. I have zero experience to share. But has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I didn't find any good sales last year either. I was very disappointed. Maybe this year will be better.

We skip this as well as far as school shopping goes, not worth all the hassle with the crowds and 3 little ones for me.

I am - but really the only thing I need is new shoes for the kids. And not because school is starting - they just need new shoes - and it just happens that this weekend is tax free - so that's just a bonus for mommy's pocketbook!
