The small plastic toys I wash in the sink with warm water and dish soap.

The soft stuffed ones I wash in the washing machine with laundry detergent. I even do this with the stuffed animals and other soft toys that are marked "surface wash only." So, far I have only ruined one thing doing this. IMO, it is gross to just wipe off something like a stuffed animal that a child has slobbered all over!

What do y'all think is the best way to clean toys that can't be submerged in water, like battery operated ones or the ones that are attached to a walker or similar large item? And how do you sanitize your highchair tray? Will eats directly off his and it is large and difficult to wash off good in our small sink.

I pretty much do the same as SarahMay.

clorox wipes are suppose to be ok to use around babies, SarahMay, you could try that.

How often do y'all clean your baby's toys? And I clean her stuffed toys the samew way - in the washing machine.

SarahMay, I'd like to know the same thing about the highchair tray.I used to spray the clorox anywhere disinfecting spray on it (I also use that to clean her toys a lot of times and just rinse after even though it says no rinsing required.) but I'ma ctually very paranoid about letting her eat straight off of the high chair tray so I have been using the TinyDiner portable placemat to put her finger foods on. I don't know whther it's more sanitary or nt but I like to think it is and I feel better with her eating off of that than the highchair. At least it is easier to get that thing cleaned.

About the clorox wipes, I have never used them on anything of hers. You have to make sure to rinse well after using them with any area coming in contact with food, etc. I just dont feel comfortable with it after reading the label. But the disinfecting spray is suppoed to be a lot gentler like water and doesn't even require a rinse. So I prefer to use that.

I almost bought Clorox wipes, too... till I read the label and, like you said, saw that areas that come in contact with food must be rinsed.

I don't think I've ever seen the TinyDiner place mat. Will would probably just pull it off his tray and toss it in the floor, like he does everything else! His new thing is riping his bib off and throwing it in the floor. He just pulls as hard as he can till the velcro snaps open...

Hmmmm, I've never worried about him eating off his high chair. I just scrub it in the sink with dish detergent like I do the dishes.

As for the toys, I just wipe them down with sudsy water. But I'm afraid of tossing his favorite stuffed animal into the wash. What if I ruin it? But now that you say it, that thing is due.
I heard you should put it into a pillow case? Anyone ever do that?

SarahMay, the TinyDiner placemat has suction cups so it sticks to the highchair tray or any table so he shouldn't be able to easily pull it off. They have them at Toys R Us. Plus you can use that if you go out to eat and stuff. It also has a little food catcher.
I don't know, I just have an issue with her eating straight from the tray, maybe because the one we have was previously used. The thing is just so big and bulky though and it's almost impossiblse to clean it in the sink and when I've tried I make a huge mess everywhere.

Then tiny diner things are awesome! I got ours at rite aid for $9.99 and we take it out to eat with us wherever we go.

At home, when Amelia was in a highchair (she's out of one now), she just ate right off the tray. I would then just clean it off in the sink.

I really don't clean their toys all that often .... but when I do, I just spray some of the clorox anywhere spray on them and let it air dry since no rinsing is required.

Kristi -whenever I wash stuffed animals I do the pillow case thing. It really does help them keep their shape and not get ruined.

Moozle, I don't clean her toys that often either but when I do I just spray the clorox anywhere sanitizing spray on them. I love that stuff. I use it everywhere!!!!

I just don't seem much point in cleaning her toys sometimes because just as soon as they are cleaned, she is throwing them everywhere (she is now at the point where she loves to throw her toys across the room or onto a dirty floor.)

So the clorox anywhere sanitizing spray is safe for cleaning toys? I need to get some of that! With Brad's highchair I take the whole thing outside and clean it with soap and the water hose, between doing that after each meal I usually just wipe the tray down. I did use the colorox wipes on it but not anymore after reading some of the posts, I didnt know it was harmful to children. (Tip: you can also clean those big bulky high chair trays in the bathtub if your sinks arent big enough)

I also use soap and water for toys that don't require batteries. I use Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner for some things, too. This discussion makes me want to go clean all his toys!!
