Since it has warmed up Olivia loves playing outside. DH and I wanted to get her some good outdoor toys, but didn't want to junk up our backyard. We got this swingset http://www.amazon.com/Step2-Adventure-Lodge-Center-Ball...id=1208901551&sr=8-1 about a month ago and we loves it so far. There is alot she can play on now and plenty for her to grow into before we upgrade to a wooden swingset.
We do alot of stuff outside so i would love to hear what everyones favorite outdoor toys or activities are???

Wow! That is an awesome swingset!
We just moved into a new house in March and the couple who lived here before us had two little boys and a great swingset in the back. So Jack inherited the swingset. It's a wooden one with a slide and ladder and 3 swings. We bought him an infant swing for it and he loves to swing. Smiler

We just bought him a sandbox over the weekend and he loves it!

Right now, my LO's favorite outdoor toy is the handle of what used to be a golf club from a cheap set of toy clubs.
He carries it under his arm while wearing his favorite backpack, and walks around the yard waving it back and forth while yelling "WhrrrWhrrr" over & over as loud as possible.
He says it's a leaf blower, and he loves it more than any other toy he has.

DM... you know you could spend $1M on a dream playground in the yard, and the LO would grab something out of the trash and think it's the best thing EVER!!!

I would like to have more yard fun toys but at the same time, I don't want my yard to look like a preschool playground. We have the sandbox and a swing--a chain wrapped around a tree limb with a swing attached. Yesterday, I bought a TINY wading pool for splashing (small enough to refill every day) and a play tent. These are not expensive--about $12 for both. Also, they are small enough to put away. I would love to have a big swing/fort, but my yard is extremely small.

I have an odd child. We have toys but he runs to the moving dolly wanting us to push him around on it. Geez talk about country. Reminds me of the commercial with the woman pushing the child around in the wheelbarrow..ours is a dolly. I'm sure the neighbors think we're nuts.

Pookie- my LO likes our dolly, too! He likes his "leaf blower" even more, though. Although I must admit that - right now - he also loves his wading pool and the water hose. But he completely ignores his swingset (which IS kinda small and babyish, now that I think about it...).

Isn't it funny the things they love the play with. Olivia loves to find a stick and carry it around.

Kristi- I am glad you mentioned a sandbox, I have been thinking about getting one of those turtles sandboxes but I wasn't sure how she would like it.

FunnyMom- We are the same way about not wanting to look like a preschool, lol. I love the idea of a playtent, we may have to look for one of those.

My brother bought Olivia one of those little coupe cars for christmas but she hasn't figured out how to move it on her own and I have to push her in it. I guess she is still a little to young for ride on toys.

We're in the market for a sandbox, too. I thought my lo might try to eat the sand rather than play in it, but at a play date last week he loved it!

I still am a bit leary of outdoor play because of you girls and your scary snake stories!!

We have a sand pit. Our LO loves to toss sand all over himself and us and the dog. I can usually keep him entertained in there for a little while. The only problem I've had with the sand (besides the sand-filled diaper/shoes/hair/etc) is it can attract ants and sand flies.
His biggest thrill is water though. Whether its the sprinkler or a mud hole, he loves it. We got him a kiddy wader type blow-up pool. We should get it up this weekend and I know LO will love it.

Yeah, LivisMom, I've had a run-in with a snake, but it doesn't bother me. Just remember: they are more afraid of you than you are of them. If you don't sneak up on them, they will leave the area w/o you ever knowing they were there.

2 words on the wading pool I put out yesterday: "Water cold!"

Pookiepie, we just bought Jack a little pool yesterday.
It's a dinosaur and water streams out of its mouth and there's a canopy and its tail is a ring toss. It's also big enough for me to sit in there with him.
I think we'll try it out this weekend.
We have a pool in our neighborhood but it doesn't open until Memorial Weekend (what's up with that?)

Kristi, that pool sounds fun. We got the pirate ship that has a water canon, a turning wheel, and a slide. However my big butt would probably sink the ship if I got in Big Grin .
I noticed it seems alot of pools open Memorial weekend Confused
Let us know how Jack (and you lol) enjoy the pool.
