Toy recalls are all over the news. A big reason for this is fear of lead poisoning. Mattel alone recalled 9 million toys in recent months. President Bush, in a press conference today, talked about stepping up safety measures on imported goods such as toys.
What do you think of all this recall activity? Are you worried? Have you found many recalled items among your child's things?
Want to know if any of your child's toys have been recalled? Check out the site www.toyinfo.org for extensive lists of recalled toys.
Luckily aroung our house we haven't found many things that were recalled, but it does make me more nervous and cautious about the toys I buy our son. There toys should never make it on the shelves.
I agree. It all makes me nervous too. I've glanced down the big recall list and don't see anything that we have. But with Jack's first birthday and Christmas coming up it makes me a little nervous about all the toys he'll be getting. Who's to say they too won't be recalled after he's chewed on them and played with them? Kinda scary. You assume these items are safe if they're on store shelves. But you can't assume anything.
I am concerned about all the toy recalls. If you have kids like mine, they LOVE certain toys (i.e. Dora) and if you work so hard to find toys that make their worlds brighter and then have to take them away from your kids because of some bad paint its heartbreaking! I thought we were year 2000 and had the lead paint thing taken care of. I certainly don't want my girls to ever get sick from something so easily prevented, but how are we to keep tabs on everything they come in contact with. It's truly overwhealming.
Kristi P, I saw Jack's first b-day pics, they are sooo cute. The one up close with the icing face in priceless. I also saw the animal print high chair he was in, and if you have the car seat by Graco that matches, the foam padding under the fabric cover has been recalled. I happen to have that carseat, that is why I know. Ronald is no longer in that carseat, but I thought you might need to know, just in case.
