I fed Olivia avocados alot when she was smaller. I would puree them (just added water), put them in an ice cube tray, freeze them, then put the cubes in a freezer bag and thaw for each feeding. I would mix the avocados with banannas and oatmeal.

If you cut the avocado in half and keep the pit in the half you don't use and only scoop out what you use, then you sort of put it back together before you put it in the fridge, it won't get too brown. The outer edges will be brown, but then you can just scrape that off before you use the part you've kept. Does that make sense? I'm not sure I explained it very well.

Jack's mommy

I love avocados and so does Jack. I've been feeding them to him since he started eating real food. I just cut them up into pieces and put them on his highchair tray and he goes to town. But yeah it's annoying how they get brown. I leave the pit in the side I don't eat and then wrap it in plastic wrap and pray for the best. But a half eaten avocado doesn't last long in this house (I spread avocado on my sandwiches most days too). So....I wasn't much help...sorry...just sharing the avocado love!

We're big avocado fans, too. I also puree them with banana and freeze cubes. As for ripening them, you can put them in a brown paper bag to speed the ripening process.

I used to work in a restaurant where we served fresh guacamole. We would put it in a plastic bowl, then cover along the very top of the guac with plastic wrap (keeps air from touching the guac), then cover the entire bowl again with plastic wrap. The very top layer would still turn brown, but it did work at keeping all of it from turning. I would say just wrap it up as best you can to keep air from touching the avacado, and that should do the trick. The avacado should continue to ripen, but it may have turned brown by the time it gets ripe! Put it (wrapped in plastic wrap) someplace on your counter or in a paper bag, or anyplace outside of your frig. That should do the trick.
