Anyone have one of these? My brother used to have one growing up. I was always afraid of it. My friend lets her 8 year old ride one. They just make me nervous. I don't think I could bring myself to buy one for Jack.
Ohhh man. I hope I don't get flamed for saying this, but I think those are the most horrible things and always just shake my head in wonder when I see parents let their kids on one.
Might as well just get your little kid a motorcycle and let them ride in the middle of the street in my opinion.
I cannot find one thing about them that is remotely safe, and they just seem totally reckless and irresponsible to me.

I agree with both of you. I know a lot of people have them, especially those that live in rural areas, but they are incredibly dangerous, especially because of the way they're used: young children riding, more than one rider, no helmets, etc., all not in accordance with safety recommendations.
...and kids speeding through neighborhoods on golf carts.
I was dropping my daughter off recently at a friend's house and a neighborhood kid barely missed my car. He came out of nowhere going WAY too fast. There were at least 3 kids in it.
A lot of people think these are safe (they are probably safer than an ATV) b/c they don't have a whole lot of power. Several years ago a maintenance worker at local golf course was killed when the cart he was driving struck a tree.
