I am trying to pick an activity that Olivia and I can attend each week this Fall. I think she really needs the interaction and I am hoping to make a few new friends too. I have looked into either Story Time at the Tuscaloosa Libary or Movin' and Groovin' at CHOM. Any suggestions?

Like I mentioned in Random Thoughts - you can't go wrong with either. Story time is great. We've been going for a year now. And it's free. For the museum, you'll need a membership. Or it will cost you like $11 each time you bring her.
We're doing Kindermusik. It was a little pricey but not really because it's for 15 weeks. The teacher is fantastic.
I also considered swim and gymnastics.

We do both Movin' and Groovin' and Library. We like library best--that's how we met Kristi and Jack, and many others. I won't be able to attend this fall since I have to work--though I am thinking about taking early lunch on Wednesdays so we can come see our friends!

It is $7 each time you go to CHOM if you are not a member. We are doing gymnastics this winter and are considering Kindermusik.

Thanks Girls. There are sooo many options and since I have to limit my trips into Tuscaloosa I want to pick the best one for her.

I really thought about kindermusik,I have heard sooo many good things. I am just nervous about spending that much money on something I am not sure she will enjoy.

About storytime and kindermusik, how much sitting still do the children have to do? Olivia doesn't really enjoy sitting still, but she hasn't participated in circle time either so I am not sure how she would do.

Lynleesmommy- These are all children's activites offered in Tuscaloosa.

Storytime is held on Wednesdays at the Tuscaloosa Public Libary. http://www.tuscaloosa-library.org/pages/Children%27s%20Page/Programs.htm

Movin' and Groovin' is held multiple times each week at the Children's Hands On Museum. It is a mixture of music and dance. http://www.chomonline.org/preschool.aspx?subnavid=31

Kindermusik is held multiple times each week. It is offered through the University of Alabama School of Music. http://www.music.ua.edu/cms/summer/kindermusik/index.php

Story time is a lot of sitting still. The librarian reads books. But there is also time for singing and sign language and sometimes she pulls out the bubble machine. And the kids pick their own books at one point and sit and read with mom/dad. The walkers sometimes roam around throughout and that seems to be OK with the librarian.
Kindermusik is a lot of moving. Dancing, musical instruments, singing, stuff like that.

For the museum, it's $4 for children 1-3 and $7 for the parent. If your child is 3 and up, it's $7 for them too. I'd probably get a membership if you are going to be there weekly.

Aww, MMDM, we'd miss you at story time if you weren't there!

Thank you sooo much for answering all my questions. She definetely isn't a sit still kind of child so I'm not sure that story time would work for her. Kindermusik sounds like so much fun and I definetely wouldn't mind spending the extra money on something that I know she will love. Do you know what days it is offered?

And yes we would definetley need a membership if we did the museum, that would add up really fast Smiler

lynnleesmom- I am going to call about signing up for kindermusik tomorrow. A few moms on this site are signing up too. Check out the Kindermusik thread in the activites section for more info on that. I would love to check out Movin and Grovin sometime soon. Maybe we could pick a time to try it out together, your DD is just a few months younger than mine Smiler
