How is your family going to keep cool as temperatures creep into the 90s this weekend?

I am so happy our neighborhood pool is open!

Where else can you swim around here? I heard there is a little beach area at the lake?

I plan to stay inside as much as possible lol. Unfortunately my LO would beg to go outside in a hurricane so we'll be going out in the morning hours and late afternoon (then fight off bugs)..ahh gotta love the South, right?
Last year we got one of the fill and swim pools because trying to find a swimming hole in the summer is hard. We haven't put it back up yet because we are debating getting a larger one. But we will definately be putting one up to beat the heat.
For the back deck we installed a misting system a few years ago. That cooled down the deck alot if you don't mind feeling like a carrot in the grocery store Big Grin
Can you tell I am not a fan of hot hot weather lol.
Hopefully everyone will find some place cool to hang out this summer!

We were at Annette Shelby Park on 15th St. today and Jack loved the water sprays. He was running through them and laughing so hard. We'll definitely go back!

LOL, PP - a carrot in the grocery store!
Yeah, the extreme heat is not something I love either.

Kristi - you have a UA affiliation, right? Join the rec center, at least for the summer. It is AWESOME. Aside from being the best gym in town (in my mind at least - they offer every type of class I could ever want, every day), the outdoor pool complex is FANTASTIC.

It has a really great baby pool, and a nice regular pool with a lazy river. That's the best part. They have grown up inner tubes and kids ones. We were there twice this weekend just floating around the lazy river for hours. Amelia just lounged in the kiddie tube happy as a clam.

They also have a water slide and a concession stand where you can get hot dogs, icees, etc.

Sorry, I know I sound like an infomercial, but we LOVE it there. GoodGolly can vouch for how fun it is too.

Oh - you don't have to work at UA to join, but it's a lot cheaper.

Kristi, I saw a ton of people with small children at that water spray Tuesday. It looked like the kids were having a blast! We'll have to try that out one day.

My sister and I took our kids to The Annette Shelby park on Monday, Memorial Day. There was a lot of people there that day. It was a lot of fun, even though Alec didn't really want to get in the water. He would just run up to the edge and then run back and laugh. We plan on going more this summer so maybe he will eventually get to like it! We are also members of the Rec Center pool on campus and we love it, too.

Moozle, that sounds fantastic.
I'm going to call and find out how to join. Thanks!

Oh, and there was a playgroup at Shelby Park yesterday when I went. What a great idea for a meet up! There's a great little area where the moms can sit and the kids just have fun running through the water. Anyone interested?

I will second - and I think maybe third - about the Rec Center pool. My kids love it! The baby pool is great for all ages and has plenty of shade for the little ones.

We are PARA members and go to the pool at the Bobby Miller Center. Will loves splashing in the water. It is indoors, though if you are looking for an out door activity.

Kristi, sounds like a good idea for a meet up at the splash park. I can come on Mon, Wed , or Fri. We just need to watch the weather and plan a day and time to meet.
