I've always had a thing for giraffes. Well, not always. Just since college. It was my sorority mascot and we all went overboard buying up anything and everything giraffe for 4 years. LOL. Gotta love college. But now I really do have a fondness for giraffes because of it. So when I learned that a baby giraffe was just born at the Birmingham zoo I was excited. Now I really have to get to the zoo! I hope to take Jack soon.
We took Olivia two weeks ago. She loved it. We went on a sunday and arrived when they opened. It was probably one of my favorite things we have done with her recently. We were able to take our time and let her see all the animals and enjoy all the exhibits. The giraffes were her favorite, it was so cute how excited she got over them. I thought she would really enjoy all the animals at the barn but she wasn't too interested in them. We were able to check everything out, eat lunch at the zoo and then pick her out a stuffed animal (she choose a giraffe) before her 1:00 nap. We are planning on purchasing a annual membership this fall
LivisMom, that's what I hope to do. Get there at 9 a.m. when they open and do everything in the morning so I can still get Jack down for his afternoon nap. He usually goes down by 1 but I could even push it to 2 and be OK. Sounds like it worked for you! Good to know!
Kristi- you also might want to bring Jack's bathing suit so he can play in the splashpad. I forgot to bring Olivia's, but I think she would have been too sleepy by that time of the day anyways.
