Hi, I am also just now getting into the coupons. Do you have to ask them to double the coupons or will it automatically double? Are there any certain days that you have to go?

I love coupons! I like to use them on stuff that is on sale in the weekly circulars or on clearance. Sometimes if you really watch the sales papers and go somewhere that doubles coupons you can get items for nearly free. I've been kind of disappointed though that the Sunday paper often doesn't have as many coupons as it used to... the coupon sections are mostly advertisements for mail order items now.
joimamma- I haven't found anywhere that still doubles up to $1.
Mommy2Hayden- No, you don't have to ask them to double it. The register automatically doubles them as the cashier scans them. I think most of the stores double every day not just on certain days.

Yesterday I was in Michael's and I didn't have the coupon with me that comes in the Sunday paper (a good one - usually either 40% or 50% off one item). So I asked the cashier if she had one I could use. She pulled out a clipboard with a piece of paper on it and all I had to do is put my name and zip code to get the deal. It's not something they advertise. You have to ask. But you can still get the deals, ladies! FYI!
joimamma, not sure about that. But you reminded me of when I was in college and the town I lived in TRIPLED coupons! I was working in a grocery store at the time and it was amazing how much money people saved. People were basically getting food for free. It was awesome. That's where my love of coupons began, I think. LOL
