So you think you are super safe when preparing food for your family? Take this quiz to find out.
I scored a 10 out of 15, which was "pretty good." Hopefully that's enough to keep us all safe over here. http://www.parents.com/parents/quiz.jsp?catref=cat51400.../ab/quiz/data/37.xml |

Those questions were too vague. Like washing the knife between products: between chicken and lettuce, yes; between onions and lettuce, no.
I did "pretty good", too. When I was growing up, I never knew that Mayonnaise needed refrigeration. My mother and grandmother always kept in on the shelf. It was not until I was probably a teen and actually read the label one day that I noticed "Keep Refrigerated." Remember, this is Mayo, on a shelf, in Alabama, in the summer!!! I have never had food poisioning. Maybe I built up an immunity. LOL Of course, I DO keep it in the frige now... and my mother does, too. One thing to note, though. We had large families and a jar of mayo didn't last all that long--maybe a week. Lots of sandwiches. |
