So we had our first BBQ of the season last night. It was so nice! We bought new patio furniture and ate outside on it last night. I rolled Jack's high chair outside. It was such a warm night and we had hamburgers and hot dogs and homemade macaroni salad.
I love this time of year!

Anyone else eating outside yet?

Not Yet Frowner. It's only cause I haven't started the mosaic top I want to do for the table I have. I was given a table that is missing the glass, so I am going to do a mosaic on a piece of wood for it. With vacation, spring break, and my niece's drama, I have had no time nor desire to work on it. Maybe with some luck, I can make some time this weekend. Big Grin

Do you mean a BBQ with guests & stuff, or just "grilling out"? Because we grill stuff outside all year round. There's always some unseasonably warm/nice days here, & I'm pretty sure we've BBQ'd a couple times every month since we moved to Tuscaloosa.
Now outdoor parties are a different story. We hardly ever entertain (unless you count our extended family!) Frowner.

LOL. I see your point. Yes, we grill out all year too (love that about living in the south!).
But we SAT outside and ate dinner on our patio set. So that to me is an OFFICIAL BBQ. LOL

Oh, Duh. You did say y'all actually ate outside. I need to read stuff more carefully before I respond, don't I?!
Hope y'all had fun. We've gotta do that soon, too!

Kristi,
I think that's a regional dialect thing. We don't really say BBQ except when talking about BBQ'd ribs, chicken, etc., the barbequed stuff itself. We tend to say grilling out or cooking out if we're doing what you call a BBQ (a "cook-out" to us). It's just a word difference!

This is the PERFECT time of year to eat outside! Soon there will be mosquitos and flies the size of your head wanting to buffet with you! When's the next one - I'll bring the macaroni salad!!

(wink wink)!!

What a beautiful day it was today!

I didn't BBQ, but I did take the electric skillet outside tonight and made a simple stir-fry... and ate outside. It was so nice. We cooked, played and listened to music all evening. The best part: the kitchen is still clean. The worst part: the mess is outside waiting for me to clean up in the morning. Hope it does't rain.

Oh yeah, about the mosquitos. I noticed a lot of them but didn't get ONE bite. I bought some Cutter Mosquito Wipes. They are in a pop-up canister like wet wipes. They were so easy to use and really worked.

Wipes, eh?
I hadn't heard of those. I'll have to check that out...thanks!
Are the bugs bad around here? They were a NIGHTMARE in Florida. So much so that we couldn't even sit outside. That's why everyone's backyard is enclosed in mesh in Florida. LOL.
They don't seem to be too bad here, though.

I think the bug problem varies greatly by location. My previous neighborhood didn't have many bugs. Now, I'm downtown and the mosquitos are terrible in my yard. Maybe not as bad as Florida bugs. I do have a water feature in the yard(as do many of my neighbors), so that compounds the problem. And, much of my yard is very shady--another bug magnet.

I bought some all natural mosquito spray for the yard but I haven't gotten up enough courage to spray it--since it is pure GARLIC JUICE!! The smell is only supposed to last a couple of days, but....
